Can only edit spine in 4:1 or 1:1 view when editing cover in Book module

See subject. When attempting to insert and edit text in the text boxes in one of the LR templates for dust jacket cover, I cannot get a view closer than "Fit" (in the preview panel) for any part of the cover other than the spine. I need to get closer to do a good job inserting and editing text in particular on various non-spine parts of the cover template. I have tried: clicking on 1:1 and 4:1 in the Preview panel, moving around in the center screen (but no horizontal slider displayed), or moving the rectangle in the Preview panel (as I am taught in LR videos). Adobe chat support just now said 'that's the way LR is supposed to work'. If so, that's ridiculous, since all the tricks I just mentioned work just fine when editing all the pages in the book.

I have also tried using other dust jacket templates for the cover. Same problem.

Esteemed expert colleagues, any ideas?

"How to enter text on the spine"?-

    1) Click to select the Cover page. View single page [Ctrl+T]

You must be editing a "Hard Cover" to show a spine.

    2) Click the mouse cursor in the spine text box.

    3) Type.

The Text box works just as any other page text box except for the fact it is at 90degrees rotated, and being narrow- limited to one line of text.

You can select all text in the spine box [Ctrl+A], and the settings in the 'Type' panel all apply to the spine text-

Note: That the Zoom functions 1:1 and 4:1 will only zoom on the spine area of the Book cover, with vertical scroll (Not the entire cover- a long standing limitation!)
