Lightroom Classic CC Photo Merge/HDR Maximum number of photos?

I have the latest versions via subscription of both Lightroom Classic CC/Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC. I have 68 images of the night sky taken over the period of one hour, with camera stable on tripod. Exposures are the same for all photos. I am attempting to merge all of the images into one to obtain star trails. I know there are several third party programs out there that can do this, but I was under the impression that it could also be done via Lightroom or Photoshop. I have tried Photo Merge to HDR via Lightroom Classic and Merge to HDR in Photoshop Pro with no luck. The wheel just keeps spinning in both cases. I have heard there was no limit, I've heard 20, and I heard anything beyond a few you can forget about it. Running Windows 10 i7 processor at 2.7ghz with 16gb RAM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can do this in PS using the Statistics Script:

THANK YOU TODD. YOU ARE THE MIRACLE WORKER! This was too easy. 68 Photos and it took less than 5 minutes to get the finished product. I'm still trying to figure out how to show you the photo. Eric

I kind of doubt that Adobe would have programmed in a limit. The limits are imposed by your hardware, and so the answer depends on your computer, and how big your originals are, and probably a few other things. So, essentially, the only way to find out on your computer with your originals, is to try it. With an i7 2.7ghz processor, I'm not surprised that it seems to take forever, and that it may run out of memory as well.

I have ever done this but I am fairly sure that in Lightroom Photo Merge to HDR is not the method. And as to image quantity limits in Photo Merge HDR, I do not think anyone knows as they are not merging that many images in LR to HDR, Pano yes, and problems exist, but HDR?

Now, does it work for a few images? I assume with Ghosting None.

Here is a link (found via google) for accomplishing in PS from LR:

also via google, this one for using third party apps just for the purpose
