Smart Collection for black and white photos only (edited via 3rd party Develop color profile)

Hi!

I'm working with the RNI (Real Nice Images) profiles for Analog film emulation. I edit a few select photos in Black and White, by choosing RNI's Ilford HP5 profile which can only be found in the "Color" section of Profiles (of the Develop module) to choose from unfortunately, and turn color images into black and white.

Later I want to have in a Smart Collection only black and white photos. But I can only select automatically via the Develop - Treatment criteria by setting that to black and white. The problem is that this criteria only selects photos set to black and white via Profiles from the Black and White section of the Develop module. So none of my photos edited via RNI's black and white profiles show up in the smart collection, as Lightroom Classic thinks they're color....

My main goal is to gather every black and white photo in the catalog, automatically under a Smart Collection named "Black and White". How can I set a criteria that will catch my photos turned black and white via 3rd party profiles like these from RNI ? Or straight BW jpgs from scanned film lab developments?

Thanks!

Give those photos a keyword, perhaps RNI_Analog, create a Smart Collection triggered by that keyword.

/followup/

And it appears you could use a plug-in :

https://johnrellis.com/lightroom/anyfilter.htm

to filter on the profile, as to then input the keyword, or move to a collection.

that from: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/filter-by-profile/m-p/12412913

perhaps the author of that plugin, a community member will reply.

/post test/ And yes, that plugin is great, it will allow you to search on the Profile (just tested for my camera matching profile).

Thanks I've tried it, and it's useful.

I just wished it would also feed Smart Collections so I could use a live Smart Collection that would keep up to date with every black and white photo automatically, instead of doing searches manually using Any Filter.

When you apply that preset, place the keyword in the photo. Then if you have that smart collection ready, based on that keyword, it will automatically occur. Yes, that is one extra step.

You might consider posting in Ideas a request for change to add Profile to the Smart Collection Rules.

Oh, and read this before creating that post in Ideas:

The diffence between your current posting and a new Idea posting is in the abouuve you are inquring on the how, in an Idea you are requesting a what to do.
