Unable to use the Enhanced Denoise feature in Lightroom Classic 12.4

I'm running Lightroom Classic Release 12.4 on Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2 OS build 19045.3324.

 

I'm attempting to use the Enhanced Noise Reduction feature. When I activate the feature, the progress bar appears saying "Loading Enhance data" and then the main Enhance Preview window appears. The "Without Enhance" preview appears briefly, then the "Enhanced" preview appears, but it is blank. (The word Enhanced appears, but the preview itself is all light gray.)

 

When I click the Enhance button, I get this.

If I turn off the GPU in Preferences, the result is the same, except that I don't get the "GPU Error" dialog box.

I should note that I already have some photos that I have used Enhanced Denoise on successfully, but I think that I processed them when I was running Lightrrom Classic 12.3.

    I replaced my GT 1030 2G card with a GT 1050Ti 4G card, and the problem went away. (This card fits in my computer and is compatible with my power supply.) The 1050 probably doesn't have much more processing power than the 1030, but I suspect that the boost from 2 GB to 4 GB of VRAM makes the difference.

     

    I would suggest that the Lightroom Classic 2 GB minimum VRAM requirement for GPU cards is below the actual minimum requirements for versions 12.4 and later. My GT 1030 card was sold as having 2 GB of VRAM. It worked fine for Enhanced Denoise in Lightroom Classic version 12.3, but it quit working when I upgraded to Lightroom Classic version 12.4. Moving to a card with 4 GB VRAM solved the problem. I suspect that 4 GB VRAM is the actual minimum requirement now.

    I just upgraded to Lightroom Classic 12.5. The Enhanced DeNoise problem has not changed.

     

    I went back and looked at the EXIF data on one of the photos that I successfully used Enhanced DeNoise on. (See image) In the Software metadata item, it shows that the image was created by Lightroom Classic 12.3. So Enhanced DeNoise was working on my computer under Lightroom Classic 12.3, but it does not work under Lightroom Classic 12.4 or 12.5.

     

    Should I reinstall Lightroom Classic 12.3?

    After posting the above, I had the thought that maybe another system update had caused Enhanced DeNoise to quit working. Here are images from my Windows Update history. The successful Enhanced DeNoise image was created on 2023-06-23, so only Windows updates since then could have broken Enhanced DeNoise. And Enhanced DeNoise wasn't working yesterday, so the 2023-08-18 updates wouldn't have broken it, either. And I haven't installed any new applications lately.

    As GoldingD indicated, there's a 7-month-old newer driver available for that graphics processor:

    Unfortunately, LR's AI commands ignore the setting of Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor.

    The "DNG" file you are using to DeNoise- Is that an original camera raw file?

    The enhanced Denoise does not work with DNG files derived from external apps like Topaz.

      At NVIDIA v536.99 is available, released 8/8/2023 (Game Ready only). You might try upgrading that driver. Select Custom install as to force a clean install.
