Frustrated that Adobe wants me buy what I already downloaded and installed

I bought, downloaded and installed Adobe Premiere Elements and when I click on the icon, it still asks me if I want the trial.  I am so fed up with Adobe. Does anyone have a suggestion for another photo and video editor for a relative beginner.  The support from Adobe and the interface on their website is the absolute worst.
