Reducing the size of a batch of photos for a website

I am sure this must have been asked before.  When I upload to a certain website, half of the photos are rejected as being too big - over 10 mb.  Can I reduce a photo or a batch of photos in Elements or any other programme.  Used to be easy in Windows, but of course, the new improved Windows 10 does not allow this as far as I  can see.  Rather than mess about with dimensions, I would like to simply reduce to 9 mb.  Thank you.  I have PSE 14.

Try selecting a batch of images in the Organizer and from the menu choose:

File >> Export As new Files

    Select jpeg

Choose a size (or custom size based on original aspect ratio) and set quality to about 7. Choose a folder to save to and click export. A setting of 7 usually gives reasonable compression for web images meaning they will load faster on web pages.

Here is how I do it in Editor:

    1. Place the images in a (source) folder, and create an empty destination folder. If there are images in landscape and portrait orientation, create a separate folder for portrait & landscape.
    2. Go to File>process multiple files, and in the dialog that comes up  browse for the source folder and for the destination folder.
    3. Under Image size, I usually make the long side 700 px and leave the other dimension field blank. Check "Constrain proportions." This is critical in order to maintain the aspect ratio. Enter 200 for resolution.
    4. Save as JPEG.
    5. The other thing is that by having separate source & destination folders, you avoid over-writing the originals. Once you have finished the project, you can delete the destination folder.

Thank you for this. I have sorted it out now, but will try this as well next time.
