Render and Replace Errors When Trying to Match Source

Hi all,

This is the first time I'm encountering this error. It seems to only crop up on some of my video files but not others and I can't seem to find a solution for it.

For the video files that this problem does affect, it occurs only when a preset that starts with the words "Match Source" is chosen (doesn't matter if I choose DNxHR, MXF OP1a or Quicktime as the Format).

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

It is likely one of two issues.

1) The clips that you chose are of a frame size, frame rate and.or Pixel Aspect Ration that DNxHR/DNxHD does not support. If that is the case, you could try a codec that does support those clip settings. eg: QuickTime ProRes or QuickTime GoPro CineForm

2) The Render settings you chose will not match up with your Sequence. If that is the case, you could set Source: to Individual Clips.

Hey Trent,

Thanks! QuickTime > Match Source - Apple ProRes worked. Assumed it didn't after trying a handful of other presets; the GoPro CineForm ones still didn't work though.

Is there a list somewhere you can direct me to to learn more about the most popular presets and what they are used for? Would love to know more.

It could be that GoPro CineForm could not match one of the settings (eg: Frame Size). An easy test is to take one of your clips and Export Media, then choose a Format and codec to see if it can match all the settings of your clip (Match Source is quick way to verify this with supported Formats).

Premiere Pro provides some basic presets for various uses, but does not cover all. You can create your own custom presets to fit your needs. Not everyone has the same workflow, so best to find out what best works for you. You can do a search for Premiere Pro Render and Replace to find a number of helpful links.
