I'm using RoboHelp 2017 with FrameMaker 2017. The RoboHelp project I'm working on is a linked document from FrameMaker. I'm updating the online help files with the latest changes and my images in the document do not show up in RoboHelp. The images are EPS files and in the past they converted to JPEG and there was no issue with images showing up. However, today all the images are missing in the online help. The Image says it's a JPEG but does not show up. I also have checked the "Use Distiller to Generate Image" box in the Conversion Settings. Does anybody know what's going on here? I'd really like some help.
When I attempt to generate a responsive design in RoboHelp 11, I am able to properly view the result in Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. However, when viewing the result in Edge, the TOC does not display, not all buttons that appear can be selected, and the header displays as one bar instead of two separate (as it does in Chrome and Internet Explorer).
I'm using quotation marks with a search string to get the best results for searching for content in a large project. (I'm using RH 2015)When the search results include a list of multiple hits in a single topic, is there an option that allows the user to then go to next? (Similar to using Find in Adobe Acrobat, where you can click Next and run through the list of hits.)I've searched on Google and on the Adobe Support site and have not seen this specific issue discussed.
Somehow my .xpj file is gone so I cannot edit my project. Can I recover this
Hello,I'm interested in using the Indigo layout in RH2017 for a new online Help Centre. I am using an EVAL version of RH2017 with the latest update on a test PC (downloaded yesterday). The layout looks good and it can be modified quite a bit, but it will take a bit of learning to understand it well enough before I decide to use it. However, it does seem to have issues even with using the latest update. But it may be down to my understanding.I've noticed a couple of things so far (both happen in the out of the box Indigo and my own modified Indigo).1. The 'Welcome to our Help Center title and What can we do to help you sub title is missing. They just dont appear at all. I have checked the Project Settings screen - Advanced button and the Labels tab (as I read on another discussion that this is where the words can be changed) and those options are not in the list at all. Perhaps this points to the problem, I don't know. This is the relevant HTML for the homepage, so the "@KEY_LNG.Welcome_h
We currently have 2 authoring tools, one of which is RoboHelp HTML 2017. We create CHM files with both tools and most links open in a new window (Internet Explorer browswer). The CHM files created with RoboHelp look fine when links are opened in a new window. In the other tool, most of the formatting set in the stylesheet is gone in the new window.Does RoboHelp somehow embed the stylesheet in the CHM so that it remembers the style when links are opened in a new window? I am trying to figure out why it works in RH and not in the other authoring tool, and then hopefully I'll be able to apply it to the other tool as well.
Hi,I have a Responsive HTML5 project/output. I have updated the existing master page to insert breadcrumbs. The existing topics that have the master page applied do not show the breadcrumbs. However, when I create a new topic and apply the master page, the breadcrumbs show up.Shouldn't existing topics be automatically refreshed if I update the master page?Any idea what is missing or how to fix this?
I have recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 and installed RoboHelp 2015 on it. According to my IT department, this is the original release of RoboHelp 2015, and there are not patches or updates installed (we did not purchase this part of the package). When I compile my project to Responsive HTML5, I am unable to open any of the topics in Chrome or Edge. If I expand the TOC and click a topic link, the topic briefly displays but then disappears; the TOC also collapses. Also, even though the project contains an index and glossary, they are not visible or displayed. Lastly, full-text search does not work. Can someone help me understand what is broken - or how to figure out what's broken?I'm not sure that any other topic in the forum covers this, so I'm asking. I apologize if there's an answer out there.Cindy
In Responsive HTML5 layout, I am able to add a logo. Can we add an image in the header? We have an image that we want to add to the header which matches the application. Is that possible?
I'm using RH 2017 (latest version). Can I import an .hhc into RH? I could have sworn this was possible, but it seems not.I manually made a duplicate of my existing .hhc with File | Save as in Np++. I then made some changes inside of Np++ and would like to import it. But it looks like the only way to do this is to first duplicate the .hhc within RH then modify it.
Hi,I'm using the Azure blue layout and have noticed that when the left-hand side panel is collapsed and then a search is run, the panel does not automatically open to display the search results. Is there a way of making this happen?Currently the search runs silently in the background with no indication that it has been successful and no presentation of the search results. It would be better if the panel opened to display the results.Does anyone have any ideas about how to do this? Thanks!
I wonder if you can help.We are currently using Robohelp 10 for the help pages for our company's software - specifically the Multiscreen HTML 5 output. My understanding from our developers is the HTML outputted in this fashion is of a type which apparently is somewhat longwinded, and which therefore has a negative effect on the outputted pages' SEO ranking. Therefore, is there a way to generate SEO friendlier html output? They are thinking of processing the html in house, so therefore can Robohelp (i.e. does this version, or newer versions) output to formats which they have described to me as 'semantic output formats' such as json, markdown and wiki syntax? As always, thank you for your help, it is much appreciated.Dan Wait
I've heard some comments about RoboHelp 2017 was the last version of RoboHelp and from now on it is discontinued. I would like to know if it is true or not, because I was asked to search for alternative softwares for generating HTML5 output. Because those people are concerned about not having any fresh updates and so on. It suits our purporses so far, so in my opinion it is a pity replacing this tool. However, I wasn't able to find anything more solid about it, so I don't know if it's true. I have been thinking of MadCap Flare software for replacing it as an alternative option, if necessary. As a quick view, I noticed it imports RoboHelp projects, generates HTML5 outputs etc. But honestly I haven't had enough time to learn more about it. I look forward to hearing from you!
Hi,We are generating word/pdf from RH 2017. It is a Release Note document.Currently, the footer has the book name and the page number. We want to add the following:a horizontal line and beneath that the date + bookname + page numberHow can we add all the 4 elements in RH so that there is no manual editing to be done in word document output.
I created a workflow process in Visio, saved it as a .png and inserted it into a Robohelp topic. I applied image maps (hot spots) to each box in the workflow to link to those topics. When I resize the browser to see how it will look for a tablet or smart phone, the image doesn't resize smaller when the browser does. It only resizes when the hot spots are removed. Is there any source code or any way I can make the hot spots relative so they shrink with the image? What's a good solution to create a linked image that shrinks to size on a smart phone or tablet?
Hi all,Here is how the index of my project looks:And here is how the HTML Help (CHM) looks like:As you can see, the keywords are not indented, instead the tool seems to be adding a comma after the main index, i.e.HISHIS, blah blah blahHIS, more blah blah blahAny clue on how to make it look like the output of other languages which is very similar to the Project view? Thanks,
Hello,I'm having scripting errors when using the TOC in the Indigo screen layout. The error doesn't happen on all TOC items; just a few of them. The error is "Syntax Error 19530" in ../template/scripts/rh_min.js.The errors happen in child projects. This may be a red herring I don't know. The child projects are published below the '../mergedProjects/' folder.Has anyone experienced this?
Hi there,I am trying to Insert a Captivate HTML 5 output in a project.I can choose the option HTML5 in the window when inserting Captivate piece but when choosing the index.html file I end up with a placeholder swf file inserted. Is that normal?Thank you in advanceB
Has anyone upgraded from RoboHelp 10 to RoboHelp 2017? What was your experience pros/cons? Did you run into problems? What kind? I know I asked a lot of questions, basically I would like a summary of your experience in upgrading and converting projects from 10 to 17.
If we have videos hosted on youtube or brainshark or some other video hosting site and we have a URL to play the video directly, can we in RH 2017 Responsive HTML5 insert a reference to that video as a thumbnail? After you insert a reference to the video, it should shown a small thumbnail with the play button overlayed on it. When you click Play, it should start playing the video. We can maximize if required. In short, we want to avoid video baggage files in the source but we want to reference an existing hosted video.Any suggestions/pointers if this is possible?..........-Tejas
Hey All,I'm using Sharepoint Online, with the "Responsive HTML5" layout. I know that RoboHelp cannot publish directly to Sharepoint Online, so in the Sharepoint section, under Advanced Options, I have Generate SharePoint Native Output before Publishing checked. I have the result generating to a local folder, which I eventually upload to a document library on Sharepoint. When I open index.aspx in Internet Explorer (from it's local location, not Sharepoint Online), I get the following error:The XML page cannot be displayed Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later. End tag 'head' does not match the start tag 'link'. Error processing resource 'file:///U:/sharepoint/index.aspx'. Line 42,...</head> --^I found that the following lines were not self-closing: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="template/styles/widgets.min.css"> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="template/st
I am having an issue with IE compatibility mode which is causing a Jquery script not to function. This meta tag seems to solve the problem: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge"> Is it possible to get Robohelp to automatically add this meta tag: to the index.htm page. I have tried adding this tag to the HTML header of specific topics, but it only seems to work when added to the header of the index.htm file. Is it possible to get Robohelp to do this without having to update the index.htm file after generating? Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi there,I've combed through the Adobe RH forums for the answer, and have only found discussions around this subject that advise you to download the latest Indigo layout or update their version of RoboHelp. I think I have done both but may need some further guidance? The issue is, when using the Responsive HTML5 'Indigo' layout, the 'breadcrumb' navigational feature at the top of the articles are not working, or occasionally lead to incorrect mapping. (see my screenshot below) Everything else on the page (sidebar navigation etc.) works like a charm. Here are the specs of our RoboHelp, just recently updated: RoboHelp 2017 Ver 13.0.2.334I need to deliver this project for a major government project and I'm still feeling my way through RoboHelp (self-teaching myself as I go along) This forum has been an incredible resource, thank you all so much for your advice! (go easy on a newbie) Cheers,Billy
Hello...When I navigate from the Home page to the Topics page, it displays the individual topics in tiles (like the front page) and then after load it goes to the topic view with table of contents. The transition between tiles and standard topic view takes about a second or two, but the lag is noticeable enough to drive you crazy. It seems to do it on the main topic that contains the subtopics. There are two subtopics mapped into the main page and when I click on the tile, it goes directly to those. I'm wondering if this is an issue with the content mapping and it containing a lot of content. Thanks,Alex
In prev versions of webhelp I could insert a visio process in webhelp topic, add hyperlinks to topics then click on visio to make minor updates to process map as required. How can I edit process maps in RH webhelp 20017? Don't want to recreate visio process map each time a minor change is required.
