Starting the other day, my computer at work crashes whenever I open a PDF and then open the page preview pane. It will start consuming more and more memory and then finally freeze up the mouse and the desktop will go black before finally crashing the entire computer and giving me an error in Event Viewer saying that Acrobat consumed all the virtual memory. I have 64GB of RAM and my virtual memory was manually increased to 128GB, but that doesn't help. I wasn't having this last week, but there was a Windows update over the weekend and that is when this seems to have started.

First off, Adobe needs to FIX THIS because it is a problem many users have experienced for YEARS.If you have Windows Preview Pane turned on in Explorer, you likely get the following Acrobat error after opening a PDF and making any kind of edit to it:    "The document could not be saved.  The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open.       Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder."Adobe is seeing the preview of the image as a 'lock' on the file, not allowing it to be saved with the same name.  This doesn't happen with ANY OTHER DOCUMENT TYPE that I have come across in the Windows world, so there is something specific with Adobe's handling of the preview pane trigger.Turn off Preview Pane and you can save edits with no issue...But many users prefer to have the Preview Pane function, so it creates unnecessary problems because of Adobe's 

I am writing to formally express my frustration regarding recent user interface updates in Adobe Acrobat Pro. While I understand the push for modernization and new features, the current implementation has severely disrupted my daily workflow due to settings failing to persist and the removal of essential legacy features.Specifically, I am experiencing the following critical issues:Intrusive AI Features & Pop-ups on Startup: Every single time I open a PDF, the application forces the "View Summary" bar and the "AI Assistant" panel onto my screen. Despite turning them off manually, they repeatedly reappear on subsequent launches. This feels incredibly intrusive and creates unnecessary clutter. Failure to Retain Page Scrolling Settings: I am continuously forced to manually re-enable page scrolling ("Scroll Pages" / Continuous View) every time I reopen the application. How do you disable or remove the blue signature alert banner at the top of the workspace? Even after the signature has been verified it stays there. There appears to be no way to remove it. It takes up workspace for no reason and is extremely distracting/annoying. I already unchecked “Verify signatures when the document is opened” and this did nothing to stop the blue bar. That’s insane if there is no way to remove the banner.

I have had a glitching problem with my Adobe Acrobat program for over a year now. Updating the program does not solve the issue. I recently upgraded to the 2026 version and the same problem continues. The only way I can temporarily solve it is by closing the application and re-opening the file that I am working on.The issue is that while working with the text tool, or sign stamp, the program will place random stamps near where I want to edit. If I hit the save button, the program will scatter my edits on the document.  After speaking to my coworkers, they all have the same issue. Our IT team has helped us check for updates when needed, but that is as far as they can get with assistance.  

I'm using Acrobat 2020 and Windows 10..This Adobe help page says I can apply strikethough to text as follows:Use the Select text tool to select the text you want to mark up. But I don't have a Select text tool. I have an Edit PDF tool, When I select that it allows me to select the text I want to edit. From the markup toolbar that appears, take one of the following actions as desired:But I don't get a toolbar called "markup" when I select Edit PDF. After updating to Acrobat 26.001.21771 (Windows 11 Pro, x64), Acrobat crashes immediately when opening certain PDFs: the window opens, shows a blank page, then closes. Windows Event Log shows an APPCRASH in Acrobat.dll 26.1.21771.0, exception 0xc0000005 / 0xc000041d, fault offset 0x33a57ff (deterministic, same offset every time). Previous Acrobat versions opened the same files fine, and Chrome still renders them correctly.By bisecting the PDF I isolated the trigger: a hidden Text (sticky note) annotation (/Subtype /Text, /F 2, /T "ISDOC", UTF-16 /Contents) inserted by the Czech invoicing service iDoklad (PDF producer: PDFsharp 1.51.5185 into every invoice it generates. Removing this single annotation fixes the file; a blank page containing only this annotation reproduces the crash (sample attached - no appearance stream, no attachments, no fonts, no images needed).This affects every invoice issued by iDoklad (a widely used Czech invoicing service), so the impact is broad.Steps to repro

Repeatedly for numerous people in our firm, their signature in the Fill & Sign tool disappears without them removing it. Thankfully, it is saved as a png that can be simply readded, but this has happened over 5 times to one user in the past week. Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do?

Acrobat not working after Mac OS 27 Update. Reinstall made it work again but all of my preflights, preferences etc. are gone… This never ever should happen. EVER!And Acrobat Reader can not be installed because “a better version is already” installed. I need the Reader also to check certain things.All in all not good, Adobe. Not at all.

I often work with longer PDF documents that contain several pages of writing, headings, images, and references. Sometimes I only need to correct wording or make small writing edits, but editing the text in Acrobat can slightly change line breaks or move other elements on the page.Is there a recommended workflow in Acrobat for making these kinds of text edits while preserving the original formatting and layout as closely as possible? I’d especially appreciate any tips for longer documents where manually checking every page afterward isn’t practical.

I'm having a weird annoying issue I can't figure out. Whenever i create a popup it is created at a really small cramped size where hardly any text fits (see screenshot) - i have to manually expand every time i create a popup and its anooying and time wasting. If i bin my prefs it resets to the correct size so it is a setting stored in the prefs plist file somewhere but there are so many entries i cant figure out which controls this. I have many settings i wish to keep, hence simply resetting ALL prefs isn't a good solution for me. Thanks!

I've noticed that some PDF-to-Word and PDF-to-Excel conversions don't always preserve the original formatting, tables, images, or fonts accurately. Have you experienced any issues with document layout, missing content, or conversion errors?

I and my users cannot convert PDF to word/excel in the app, the option shown as grey, even though we have purchased for Acrobat Standard. But we can only use it on a online convertor.

Today unexpectedly Acrobat presented me with a prompt to “Upgrade Now” in order to continue using the edit and print production tools (and presumably many other core tools).It took me to a plans and pricing page for: “Acrobat PRO + AI Assistant Plus Reactivate a plan to keep being productive.”Apparently, I’m now expected to pay A$40-A$60 per month in addition to my already paid for in advance annual Creative Cloud Pro subscription!What the hell Adobe?! This is absolutely disgusting behaviour, and frankly illegal. I paid for a service and it needs to be honoured. I am getting an error message that says: unable to find adobe pdf printer or acrobat distiller printer. I don't have any Adobe programs on my computer. How can I fix this error.

Every time I open Acrobat it installs the  Acrobat Collaboration Synchronizer app into my Mac's Login Items control panel. Every time I delete it manually, and every time I open Acrobat the next time it installs it again. How can I permanently prevent Acrobat from doing this? I don't want to have to keep manually deleting a 'helper' app that I don't want, which Adobe doesn't have the courtesy to ask if it's OK to install? I can't see a way in Acrobat settings to prevent the installation.

I've been using Acrobat Pro for years. I use it as a teacher for presentation purposes too. On both Mac and PC.   Now I've just noticed something which breaks my workflow badly, presentation-wise, on my new Win 10 Pro, HP zBook 15v laptop with a Swiss French keyboard layout. The shortcut "Ctrl+0", which has worked on both platforms since forever, normally zooms to fit the page both in windowed and fullscreen mode. But not on my laptop; it now increases the zoom level by a fixed increment, which is totally useless to me.   I desperately need this feature because I keep zooming in and out of documents for my courses, and the current state of affairs in the zooming business is "BROKEN". And my first course for the semester is tomorrow...   My version of Acrobat is 2017.011.30120.   I have a bad feeling that I'm stuck with this broken behavior, but any help or workaround will be appreciated.

The temp files that are supposedly autosaved every increment we choose under Preference > Save Settings is worthless.  Twice now I have spent hours marking up PDFs of production drawings and lose everything when Acrobat inexplicably crashes.  The temp text file (1.txt) located in C:\Users\ <YourUsername> \AppData \Roaming \Adobe \Acrobat \DC \AutoSave\ cannot be opened with Acrobat, Chrome, Edge or any other PDF utilities.  Yesterday I spent 2 hours with AI massaging the temp file with Python scripts to repair the file which didn't work and still could not open the "saved" file.  Best I could do was extract my text comments from the otherwise useless file.Why don't you back up the actual file we are working on in its entirety with a PDF extension that can be opened with the software we are using (e.g. Acrobat)?
