RoboHelp

When viewing my published project from an iPad or iPhone, bullets appear like a section sign. Is there an easy way to correct this? I'm using RoboHelp 2017, version 13.03.346. 

Hello,I recently upgraded to Adobe Technical Communication Suite (ATCS) 2020 (including FrameMaker 2020 and RoboHelp 2020).Previously, I had been using ATCS 4 (with FrameMaker 11 and RoboHelp 10).Previously, I had a FrameMaker 11 project and a RoboHelp 10 project. The RoboHelp 10 project was linked to the FrameMaker 11 project to allow single sourcing. (Any change made to the FrameMaker files was automatically reflected in the RoboHelp project.)I have just done the following:• I have converted the old Frame 11 project to Frame 2020.• I have converted the old RoboHelp 10 project to RoboHelp 2020.QUESTION: How do I link the new RoboHelp 2020 project to the new Frame 2020 project (so I can continue to do single sourcing)?In other words, I want the RoboHelp 2020 project linked to the Frame 2020 project... so that any change made in the Frame 2020 project will be automatically reflected in the RoboHelp 2020 project.Thank you for your reply! I'll try to explain this as best I can. I am working with Robohelp 2019 and am wondering if there is a way to add a script tag in the index.html document of the manual within the source files so it is there every time the manual is published.  It is easy to go into the Outputs folder and add the script to the head there, I'm wondering if there is a way to add it to the source files so that the script doesn't need to be added every time a new version is published. I hope that makes sense. We are wanting to track the traffic on our manuals and this script will help us do that. Thanks

Hi all, I'm using RH 2019 Classic version 14.0.14. When I generate the WebHelp output, everything works fine and there are no errors. In Windows Explorer, the output folder contains all the expected files - only sometimes, some of the .htm files are 0 KB, and actually empty. The files concerned change from one generation to another, and so does their number: sometimes there is only one 0 KB .htm, sometimes there are 4, or 5... It all seems random. I've tried deleting the .cpd and generating to new, clean folders, to no avail. I could not find a clear process to avoid the issue altogether.  Eventually, at some point, after a lot of going back and forth, one of the generations turns out OK, with all the .htm files at their right size, with their expected content. The issue is quite recent, but nothing in the RH projects has changed recently. Apparently, it's not linked to a RH update either.   Has anyone had the problem? Any ideas?Thanks in advance. 

Hi!  Can end users favorite content within a RoboHelp Azure Blue layout?  I have only seen this feature available in the Indigo layout.  Thank you in advance. 

Is there a way with Robo Help 2020 to set a default tab for the help to open for HTML 5 output? What is happening is if the user changes to another tab, for example Search, the next time they open the Help it defaults to the Search instead of the Table of Contents, even if they have closed the browser and come back later. Would like the Help to always default to the TOC when it opens even if the user at some point changed tabs. 

Hello,   Yesterday, I upgraded my Robohelp 2020.0.1 (upgraded to 2020.0 from RH11 back in October 2020) to the latest version 2020.4.173. I am having trouble with searching the Contents for my topics. It is taking a very log time and not returning my topic even when I put in the full name of the topic.   I see now that you have enhanced the search to display other types of files however this is not working for me. My project is large and I want to know if there is a setting that I can use to search for topics only.   Thank you. Beatrice

The FrameMaker 2020 files that I import into RoboHelp 2020 contain many non-breaking spaces. RoboHelp deletes them, so the words run together. If there are any nonbreaking spaces, I can do a search-and-replace in FM before importing and replace them with regular spaces. But most of them are embedded in cross-references, so S&R in FM doesn't find them. For example,  a cross-reference to "Figure 4" appears in RH as Figure4. Ack ptui! The only solution I have found so far is to look line-by-line for these items in RH and fix them manually. (RH's S&R doesn't seem to find these either.) 1. Is the problem with nonbreaking spaces imported from FM a known issue? Or is this problem unique to my files? 2. If it is a known issue, what is the ETA for a fix? 3. In the meantime, are there any short-cuts to finding them in RH?

Greetings, I use RoboHelp 2019 (14.0.14.002). I'm unable to remove a folder from the Project Manager pod as the Delete button is disabled. To remove the topics that are listed under a book, I've removed the book from the ToC, manually deleted the folder on the machine, deleted the topics from the Topics List pod.  The topics aren't there in the ToC, but, when I click certain index entries, it takes me to those deleted topics. I've also deleted the .CPD file and after generating the output (.CHM), the topics are displayed when I click the specific index entry.   suggestions anyone?

We have a Frameless Online Help with Portal Skin. The help works as expected.There is a slight slowness when navigating across the topics by clicking them in the left ToC pane. The content (topic title and body) displays first and then after a fraction of seconds the header and breadcrumbs display.Is it something that anyone has faced and any solution for this?Would long topic names or breadcrumbs be a reason for this delay of a fraction of seconds?

Hi all, I have just started using RH2020, having moved from 2019 Classic version, so the whole interface is new to me. I have downloaded the latest updates. I am at the point of giving up and re-installing 2019 as I just cannot get it to work properly. To me, it seems to be very buggy and just does not seem to be working as expected, but am hoping it is me, rather than the software. Some issues I'm having:If I apply bold to a word, then try to toggle it off again, sometimes it does not work.Sometimes I apply a condition to a word or sentence, then right-click to remove it, and the option is not there.Sometimes I apply a condition to a word or sentence, yet under Content Properties it does not show  that conditional text has been applied. Sometimes it does.I have a bulleted list of 5 items where items 2 and 5 are conditional. When I generate, I still get the bullets on the lines that are conditional. I've tried selecting the carriage returns (view >Show>Paragraph Markers

Hi everyone.I have just started using RoboHelp 2020, having used earlier versions for many years. I am running version 2020.4.173.I have a problem when outputting to Responsive HTML5. One of the icons in the TOC is partially missing, and the name of the book associated with it does not display at all, although the topics do appear if you click the +. This shows the TOC before it is expanded, and after expansion. I moved this book to the end of the TOC to experiment with it, but the same thing happens when it is further up the TOC. I do use conditions in this project, but there are no conditions associated with this book or the topics in it.The rest of the TOC is fine. This product is being released next week so this is time critical! Any ideas would be very welcome!ThanksLaura

I'm using Robohelp 2017 with a modified version of the Indigo layout and want to have Glossary terms/definitions show as tooltips instead of the default expanded text. I see that there's a built-in script "Output Generator with Glossary Restyling" but it doesn't appear that Responsive HTML5 layouts are supported or at least it's not an option, even though pretty much every other SSL is supported, including multi-screen HTML5.

I am using Rh2020.4.173.  I have images loaded onto a topic.  Their extention is .png and the appear fine.  I also have a hyperlink associated to them.When I create an output and publish the page, I am not seeing the images.Does anyone know why? 

I have generated my help as an HTML5 output for a web based application, what is the best solution to host it? 

Hi I'm creating a help system for a web based application using Robohelp 2020, the output will be Webhelp or responsive HTML, the management wants to have help on the level of the screen fileds, not only on the screen level. My question is: Is this possible for web based applications to have help on the field level? and if yes, how can this be achieved from within RoboHelp 2020?Thanks a lot 

I am generating a print output of my online help.When I insert the front matter the in the book Toc, the Toc gets generated but it also displays come portions of content. For example an image. I guess the tags that it picks to build the toc are applied to the image. How can I fix that?Secondly, when I insert the cover page it is part of the front matter and it gets added to the toc. How can i exclude the cover page from the toc? When I dragged it outside the front matter it showed in the output the toc got hidden. How can I keep both without clashes?

I cant seem to get breadcrumbs working in my output anymore. In the indigo skin, the breadcrumbs are there but if  you click on them, they do nothing and in the Studio skin, the dont display at all beyond heading 2. So if you have a heading 3 in your TOC, there are no breadcrumbs at all. Is there something else I have to do?    

Does anyone have any experience with documenting company software, where the ribbon and menus can be customized?Example:Previously in a topic, I would've documented the navigation something like this:From the  ribbon, select the Utility tab, then click the Ppr button. The Processor Front End screen (Figure 3) displays.However, that button may or may not be under that tab, and I have no idea how the client would've customized their ribbon or menu. I've placed a reminder in topics like this:Reminder! Your menu options vary according to the security settings assigned as well as your assigned role. Has anyone documented this type of thing differently, where it was well received by clients and effective too? For reference, using RH 2020.4.173Thanks so much in advance for your time! 

How does version control work in RoboHelp 2019 for GIT??? In a multi-author environment, will it automatically check out and lock files that are being edited? Or will users have to manually notify each other what they're working on and/or manually merge changes when there are conflicts?Also, is there a plan - and timeline (and if so, when?) - to deliver version control via RoboSource Control (3.1 or maybe RSC 2019????) and Microsoft SCC API (for example, Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Express)?

Running RH 2020.2 (currently testing .4 update). Have successfully published RH frameless web output to an internal Microsoft IIS web server, but we're looking to migrate our output to a Microsoft Azure cloud hosted enviro. Specifically we're looking at placing our RH frameless web output in an MS Azure VSTS>Storage Accounts>Blob Containers location. At the moment, I have to manually copy over/transer files (via Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer) to the corresponding Blob Container after compiling updated output. It appears there are automation solutions for transferring local files to a blob container, but I'd like to automate this with RoboHelp's Publish tool if possible. Has anyone done this, or know if it's possible?

RH10, WebHelp Pro, Robohelp Server 9First, please do not move this question to the Server forum because plainly part of the problem is happening before the output is published.After generating output and choosing FIle > View> Primay Layout, every thing looks OK except that if I click the Search button,  I get the Search input box and below it, the message:Error: Failed to initialize database.If I enter any valid search term, the only response is:nullWe publish our output to two identically configured WebPro servers. After publishing the above output, the result is that on one server, the published output works fine, including searches. On the other server, clicking the Search button produces a completely blank navigation pane.These results are infinitely repeatable despite numerous server restarts, deletions of SSL folders, CPD files, all the usual suspects.SO the questions I have are:What  database is failing to initialize?What would account for two different published

Hi,We have multiple Robohelp projects created and maintained in Robohelp 2019 Classic. We've been using this for a while now. However, recently we noticed that when we generate output, this line gets added to the HTML files of the Responsive HTML5 output:<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../../template/styles/widgets.min.css">While this is not having a visible impact on our output, we want to be sure of what this line is and why is it getting added since the recent past?We haven't changed anything in the way we generate output. This line is seen on all HTMLs irrespective of whether it was updated or not.Any explanation will help. Thanks!
