Hi people Over recent weeks my project has begun to load very slowly. A few times it's taken 10-15 minutes with the small blue circle "system busy" icon not even spinning round, before the project has opened. The project is stored on my local machine which has 16Gb RAM and 300GB free memory on disk, so I don't think it's a hardware issue. Im a bit concerned as the help system is only about 1/3 complete. Is there an upper limit for the size of RH projects and if so what can I do to manage the problem? Recently I have begun using drop-down text boxes quite extensively. Initially these were only used for small field / description type tables. But as additional sub-screens have been added to the product I have relied on them increasingly to shoehorn the new information into existing topics without altering the structure of the help (in the form of dropdowns labelled "more info" and similar, to display the additional info for those who need it). Some of these drop downs
Hi all, I have 5 different guides and I would like to publish all at the same time. However, I want to create a drop-down for users to select either user guide, admin guide, installation guide so that users get only relevant content. I do not want to create a clutter of TOC on the left with all the guides. Any suggestions will help. I am using RoboHelp 2019.
Hi and happy Friday! We recently moved to Adobe Robohelp 2019 and were shocked to learn that the Review features (tracked changes and comments) are not "yet" available. Does anyone happen to know when those features will be available?
How can I search all files in a RH 2019.0.8 project at the project level? I need to find all instances of the registered trademark symbol and the trademarked symbol in 20+ projects, w/ each project having multiple files and I don't want to search one file at a time in each project. I have tried to find the Find/Replace option from a menu and cannot and the Control + F option, even when used at the project level, makes me choose from the list of files in the project before I can search.
I've upgraded from RH 9 to RH19 and when opening the existing project initially it prompted me to save a back up copy (which I did) and then upgrade the one I am opening, which I also did. It seemed to go just fine; however, when I am in that project there is nothing there....none of the many, many topics that are contained in the original project.
Hello forum folks! I need your expertise once again...I am using RoboHelp 2017 and have a parent project set up with multiple child projects. I am converting from WebHelp to Responsive HTML5. All the projects' files are generated/compiled and everything is working EXCEPT the deep links for my context sensitive URLs to my child projects. I thought that it was something to do with our software, but cannot find anything. Here's the scoop:Prior to the change my URL looked like this:http://SERVERNAME/Eclipse-Help/Solar/!SSL!/WebHelp/MasterProject.htm#mergedProjects/ENT/VEND_CreatingVendorRecords.htmOur system houses everything prior to the # in a reference file for the system to call.I load the folder and file name on each screen (i.e. ENT/VEND_CreatingVendorRecords.htm)When we launch the help from an individual screen, our software inserts the #mergedProjects, appends the folder/file for a complete URL. These worked fine with WebHelp. I thought I could just replace the "WebHelp" with "Resp
Hi all,I already posted this question yesterday, but I can no longer find my post, so maybe it got lost. If it is still there, sorry for the inconvenience. Regarding the output using dynamic filters I have a question. I have racked my brain without getting an idea.As far as I understand it, dynamic filters work like this:- when a filter is set, all other tags are excluded from the view- everything without any tag is displayed- everything with the selected tag is displayed 1. Thus, it seems not to be possible to use additional internal tags like "tbd" or "to do" or something without using these tags in the output, because then, the respective topics containing these tags will never be displayed. Correct? Or am I doing it wrong somehow? 2. I am trying to create a merged project containing conditional tags on content level and on topic level. Example: I am having topics for several countries US, UK, DE (= conditional tags on topic level) and in each of these topics, I am ha
I posted 9/11/19 (on the old board) about a problem with responsive output removing all parentheses from the output. Additionally, I found that it was removing multiple spaces (like in xml samples and such). I did report a bug to RH, and they had a fix for my by Friday morning. I thought it useful to add this post back to this new forum in case anyone runs into the same issue. If you've already updated to r9 and have this problem, there is a fix for it. Vivek tried to attach it to the bug, but it wouldn't attach. You'd probably need to email support and they'd send them to you. If you use responsive output and haven't updated, wait a few days. Vivek said they are working on a hotfix and it will be out in two weeks or so.
I was wondering if anyone can provide a list of reasons why a robohelp project should not be worked on while saved to a network drive. I can't seem to find anything in the robohelp documentation that states why this shouldn't be done.
Just upgraded from RH 2017 to 2019. Upgraded a project that's part of a merged-project setup.Result: all cross-project links are broken. For example, this link to a project in another topic: ../CM/Calendar.htmAre cross-project links supported in RH 2019?Could I merely reenter ../CM/Calendar.htm here?
Hi, I am using RoboHelp 2017 to create webhelp files. I am also generating PDF outputs fromthe same source. However, once generated, we find that additional blank pages are present in the PDF. The hyperlinks don't work in most parts of the content in PDF, and tables are pushed out of the reading frame or get truncated midway. Is there any way we can control the formatting of the PDF while generating it? Or at least increase the page width to accomodate wide tables?
Hi everyone, So far, I have:Installed update 8Re-upgraded my 2019 Classic skinImported it and added the custom CSS and images as user assetsGenerated my output with the re-upgraded skinIn a separate attempt, added the images to each book/topic on the ToC itself and used a skin without the ToC CSS What crucial step am I missing here? From perusing the forums and the original issue, other people have managed to get it working, I just can't figure out how they did it... Thanks in advance!
How/where can I change the default "How can we help?" text provided above the search box in TOP SECTION>CAPTION?
I am a new RH user and little knowledge of HTML.I want to create a pop-up topic from an existing topic.I want this to be a custom-sized box.I do not want a heading on my pop-up - just information.I have created the topic which will be the pop-up text box and have linked to this topic from the main topic making it a custom-sized pop-up.I delete the automatic heading created with the topic name - to be replaced with paragraph text. I check the Preview to see the size and look of pop-up is as expected. When I publish - there is a blank line at the top of my pop-up and a scroll bar as the box is now too small because RH has included a blank line for the missing heading (h1) – that I deleted. So I added a smaller heading (h4) to at least have a heading if that is what RH wants – but as soon as I change it from h1 to h4 it puts it in the body not the heading. When I publish, I still get a blank line at the top of the page then the h4 heading I added.I can see from the Source option that RH stil
I'm experimenting with RH 2019, update 8. I modified a frameless skin to get the output I want. When I open the project by clicking the view icon from the Output tab of RH 2019, I get this view: I am using the following settings: I copied the QBR output folder to our stage environment, anticipating that the starting URL from that location would be QBR/index.htm. When I navigate to that URL, I get a 404 page not found error. Sure enough, the QBR output folder does not contain an index.htm file. Based on the above settings, should it? I tried accessing the default topic to see if that URL would work for the start page. It does not. When I access the default page directly, I get the contents, index, glossary, topic, and a scroll bar for the equivalent of the left pane, but I lose all the buttons associated with the frameless skin. Has anyone else tried using a frameless skin with the "Use skin home page" box unchecked? If yes,
Hi,I am creating a webhelp output in RoboHelp 2017.I am creating it for a client application where the session ends after 5 minutes of inactivity. Currently the webhelp has been integrated in the application, and it opens in a separate tab when we click Help button available within the application. However, when the user logs out, or the session expires, the help file is still available in the other tab. Is there any possibility that we can control the session of the help file as well, such that the help file also redirects to the log in page of the application? Can anyone point out the JS code, and the file where related JS code needs to be incorporated?
I'd like to start using the new Frameless skins released in RH 2019.9 (specifically Oceanic). Our site looks terrific in Edge and Chrome but unfortunatley our client is still using IE11 across its oranganisation. Does anyone know what, if anything, can be changed in the configuration of IE to allow the sites to run using the new Frameless skins?
Also I've noticed that all our tables have borders when the large file is imported into RoboHelp 2019, even though the borders are not in the Word file. What do I need to do to fix this? I've played around with the import settings and haven't been able to get it to import correctly. (Word doc on the left and RoboHelp 2019 import on the right). We have over 2000 topics in this large file, so don't want to have manually remove every border. I've checked the box to import inline styles so that we get all our styles.
Hi, I want to add a tiny bit of JavaScript to my help content that reads the URL currently displaying the HTML5 page and show the host component of the URL being shown.I want to use that function to append the following TEXT description as follows: We suggest you enter your host name ("Host Name/URL) in the field. The Host Name/URL should fetch the part of URL (till .com, path is not required) currently displaying the HTML5 help page .I am not sure how to write a javascript as i donot know Java. How and where i should add the javascript. What should i write in the below highlighted portion so tha it gets replaced with the URLCould anyone help me with this. (@petergrainge ) Regards,
In RoboHelp 2019, there appears to be a problem with video sizing that didn’t exist in RH 2017 or RH 2019 Classic. When you convert a project from RH 2017 or RH 2019 Classic, the video tags are converted from an <object> the uses the apple plugin to a <video> tag:Prior to Update 6, the remapping didn’t happen in the conversions and the video would not display in the published output using a responsive HTML5 pre-set. However, the size values are lost in the conversion of Update 6 so when the page loads, you see it at a default size 480 X 320 size.If you set the size to what you want, it is added to the <video> tag as shown below. This is not just in converted topics; it happens even if you add the video directly in RH 2019. RH 2019 defaults to 480 X 320 even if your video was recorded and published at 1280 X 720.With the size set in the video tag, when the page loads, you see it “flash” up briefly at 480 X 320, before it’s re-rendered at the correct size, but the video i
Hi gangApologies, I have removed this question as the subject matter may be considered "company confidential". So I'd better take it down just to be on the safe side. I'm no corporate lawyer and I have no desire to encounter any. (On Saturday morning I have no means of knowing either way.)JV
RH 2019.When I create a PDF, the TOCis ok but the Bookmarks shows gaps. Please see the attached screenshot. If you click the bookmarks, they open the topics, ie the actual links work. Anyone know what's causing this?
Hi all, I was very happy to detect the new option to generate a docx-output in the current update. However, this is not working for any of my projects. I tried with the sample project, there it works fine. I tried with 3 projects of different size, there, it doesn't work. After a couple of lines of updated files, I get the error message: Error: Unhandled Should not have a unit with more than one term Error: See log for details Error: Failed to generate Word In another project (more complex) I get this error message very shortly after starting the output when trying to update the first file: Error: Unhandled System.NullReference Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I checked this directory for more details, but it is empty: AppData\Roaming\Adobe RoboHelp 2019\logs Any ideas where I should start looking for the cause of the problem? Thanks and best regards Karin
Robohelp 2019.When I create a PDFs, there are large gaps in the table of contents. In one project there are two blank pages before the TOC. In this example, the gap is in the TOC itself. Has anyone else come across this?
I'm using Robohelp 2019. When I import a Word file, I split docs based on heading 1, heading 2. I use the Word import settings to auto generate a TOC. The TOC topic titles displayed are the file names, not the heading text. How do I automatically generate the heading text in the TOC headings?I've attached a screen shot for clarity.thank you
