Hello,My team and I are currently in the process of migrating all of our projects over to RoboHelp 2019 classic. With that, we will be using RoboSource Control, until we make the full move to RoboHelp 2019.Currently, we are working on RoboHelp 2015, using RoboSource Control in a multiple author environment. Regularly, we use user defined variables. Sporadically, the user defined variables do not save, so when we do a Responsive HTML5 output, the variables are gone and we have to recreate them. Has anyone ran into this issue and have any suggestions as to what could be going wrong? All my best!Adriiie
I am using RoboHelp HTML on Windows 7. I am able to generate Oracle Help output, but I when I click on "View Result",the following window pops up:I have the 1.6 and 1.7 JDK and JRE's installed as well as the Oracle Help JDK.Any suggestions? Thanks.
My co-worker and I are using RH2017, version 13.0.2.334, to create separate projects. We're using the Indigo layout with very similar customizations to create a unified look for the online help across our company's diverse products. We're both finding that the Index filter doesn't return sub-key items. I've attached screenshots from the generated help from both projects -- first of the index without filtering, then filtered for a sub-key item.
I'd like to display the publish date (taken from the system, not typed) of a piece unobtrusively on a page in a RoboHelp 2019 piece as a way to better support reviewers. I didn't see a way to get any sort of date in a variable in Help though. Any ideas? Is it not possible (yet)?
Hello, I need to move an installation of Robohelp 10 from one pc to another however I do not have the serial key from when we bought it and this isn't associated to any adobe account as far as I'm aware. I've checked in the installation and can't see a way to export the serial key, nor does it show that any adobe account is logged in (similar to how Adobe Acrobat Pro does). Is there any way I can get the serial code out of the installation? Thanks
Hello! I'm currently running RH 2017 and generating Responsive HTML5 output. The included screen layouts (e.g., Azure Blue, Charcoal Gray) are IMO, a little dated, even with customization, so I'm looking for some that are more modern/attractive. Hence, I'm curious what new Responsive HTML5 layouts are included in RH 2019, what they look like, and whether they can also be used with RH 2019 Classic and/or RH 2017. Here's an example that I think shows promise (from the RH 2019 brochure) of what I mean when I say modern/attractive. I *could* install the demo/trial, but I'm attending Adobe's workshop at the STC Summit next week so I want to hold off on starting the trial clock until right before that. With that in mind, can someone provide a list of all Responsive HTML5 screen layouts included, and also screen shots of them in generated output? TIA!
I sent an email to Adobe Tech Support last Friday early and have not heard back from them. I am posting this so maybe I will get some kind of response.I have several HTML5 help files that I have converted from classic 2019 to New 2019. Everything works perfectly in Classic 2019. However in New 2019, the help only works from the C:\ directory, not a network directory. I use IE11 as a browser because that is the default browser for the federal courts. Some of my help files go out to over 70 federal courts, so requiring a change to the default browser is out of the question. My question to Adobe Tech Support was:Will the following tag be automatically added in the next update of RH New 2019? If I add the below tag to the index.htm file, then thehelp system works outside the C:\ directory.<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" /> Unfortunately, the index.htm file is a generated file and I do not want to have to remember to copy and paste this line
HiAs I understand it:Contextual help enables us to link specific screens in the application to topics in our help systems, so when a user clicks the help button on a certain screen, the corresponding help file is displayed. This is done by means of a "map file" which links the screen's unique ID to a specific topic. So I'm guessing each screen in my company's application will have a unique "context id" and the programmers will know what this is and where to find it. Presumably the help file will be identified simply by its filename and path. The Adobe documentation does not appear to go into much detail about the actual steps required. Is this because it varies depending on the programming language used to produce the application or because any developer worthy of the name will have no provlem working out how to do it?When I open up a new map file in RH2017 i get the following view, which appears to be a bunch of empty folders echoing the hierarchy of my existing help system, but with no
Since updating from TFS 2013 to TFS 2017, RH 2017 has a problem when we Generate (WebHelp) and produces the message "Critical error of Source Control Provider. Please restart IDE.". No problem generating help via a PowerShell script that we've been using for years. A Microsoft blog suggested first removing the output folder but that didn't help. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
This is for a new project in the new RH2019 version with a Word document that imports correctly with RoboHelp 2015. This is also a different project/issue from the WebHelp forum I was a part of last week11000584. In that case, the file imported correctly. However, my issues in this case with a different file appear similar to what happens for ColdForest 10703389 and I have a partial .docx file I can share. I am using the most updated version 2019.0.5. Selecting Heading1 as the Start new topic from style in the new version of RH2019 and <$paratext> for Topic Name Pattern, yet RH doesn't seem to know where to separate topics and separates them on almost every line.Example of the same file correctly importing in RoboHelp 2015/Classic:Examples of the same file importing incorrectly with RoboHelp 2019:
Hi, all—We recently upgraded to RoboHelp 2019 and have noticed that the xmlreadhelper.js file is missing when we publish our Help projects using the WebHelp output. This was causing some issues in the Help build process. As a short term fix, it was manually added from an old publication that was completed in our previous RoboHelp version, and the issue seems to have been mitigated. After some cursory research, I can't seem to pinpoint the function of this file and why it seems to have been removed from WebHelp outputs. Any information the community has on this would be great. Thanks!
I know this was asked back in February and marked answered, but it doesn't seem to be working and I'm on version 2019.0.6. This is not classic. This is the new UI. I would swear that it does add some words for awhile at least, but other words (our company name being the easiest to remember) seem to need to be constantly added.
Hi again,Look at the two images. There are the Author and Source of the same text. Some paragraphs have the Paragraph markers, some don't. Why the difference? Also, the title "Actions a ne pas utiliser".Why is the paragrapk marker below the title?I can't place the cursor where the pararagraph marker is.If I place the cursor at the end of the title and I press Delete, it will erase the paragraph marker, and the word Annulé will go at the end of the title and inherit its format (red-bold-underlined).Pierre
Hi,Copy/past part of a phrase (not even a paragraph) to another phrase from and to the same Topic; The part copied was automatically formatted (in bold) as the text already there.Selected the copied text to remove the bold format. Impossible.Had to click “Clear formatting” and reformat the entire phrase (Font, Size, Left Margin, Bold for part of the text)Why did it not accept the copied text as it was? Why did I have to Clear the formatting to reformat it???Pierre
Hi everyone,I migrated a project from RH2017 to RH2019, new UI, some time ago and would like to report several issues I've encountered while working in the new Robohelp 2019 (update 6, new UI) and also provide some feedback about the new UI. I'm also curious about your experience regarding these.Abnormally long output generation time. The output for a project with about 75 topics is generated in approx. 2-3 minutes. This is super frustrating. The project is converted from the Classic version; maybe this has something to do with it. The demo project is generated in 5-10 seconds, but it's not nearly as big. It would help if the log was shown during generation, not after, to pinpoint the problem. In the Classic version, even a much bigger project could be generated in less than 1 minute.Right-clicking a book in TOC, and selecting Properties results in an error (in the left pane): Robohelp has run into an error. Please save your unsaved changes and restart ...General performance slowing do
Hopefully, this is my last question for the day.I'm importing a Word document into RoboHelp 2019 and seeing some odd numbering issues. In my project I have set up Heading 2s for topics, Heading 4s for procedures, which should initiate autonumbering that starts at 1).In the attached graphic, somehow the numbering is showing up adjacent to the Heading 2. Additionally, restart numbering at 1 does not occure after the second Heading 4, which is the expected behavior. All of this looks good in my Word doc, so I figure something weird is happening with the import. Right?
My FrameMaker book is linked to RoboHelp. Initially in the RoboHelp conversion settings, I set the FM numbered list styles to "Convert Autonumber to HTML List" and mapped them to BodyLevel1 and BodyLevel2. That worked fine for the 1st level steps (1, 2,3, ...), but the indentation of the substeps (a, b, c, ...) was weird. The substep text was indented correctly, but the a, b, c autonumbers were aligned directly under the 1, 2, 3 step numbers, leaving a big gap between the autonumber and the text. Then I set the FM styles to "Convert Autonumber to Text". That let me control the indentation of both levels of autonumbers, but there was no space between the autonumber and its text. Although I changed the indentation parameters in all sorts of ways, I could not create a gap between the autonumber and its text.Anyone have any idea about what I'm doing wrong or something different I could try?
I have some topics that have bad names. They contain an ampersand which doesn't seem to be a problem unless you're creating chm output in which case the ampersand and following character are missing in the chm's ToC. I can ask to rename the topic and that does change the name of the htm file. It does not, however, change the name of what appears in the contents panel or the choices available for building the ToC. I've had the same problem renaming First_Topic to something meaningful.
We use SharePoint as our source control, and we each have a copy of our projects saved locally on our machine.I recently found out that anytime I create links, it is showing the local file path on my computer instead of creating a truncated link as it normally would. This has been going on since January, and it lead to over 60 broken links and a file that couldn't be published or closed. Before this started, anytime I created a link, It would show a truncated link, as you would expect: <a href = "../../filename.html"</a>However, now when I create a link, it is showing the file path for my locally saved version: <a href= "C:user.name/documents/helpfiles/area/prod/subject/filename.html." </a> The funny thing is, if I open the link in the RH Hyperlink editor, I just have to double click the exact same topic that is already selected in the destination windowand —*poof* — it magically fixes itself. What the heck is going on?
Hi all,After importing my Captivate demo and then inserting it into my topic, it's neither showing in the Preview nor generating in the output (Multiscreen HTML5). All I get is a wire frame box with the captivate logo (in preview) and a broken link image in the output (refer below for screenshots).PREVIEW:OUTPUT:Any guidance on how to fix this would be really appreciated.thanks.
Hi,Why, after 4 or 5 clicks or actions, in a Topic, RH has a 6 to 9 second delay, every time??Imagine clicking 400 times in RH during a day. That’s 100 X 8 sec. I wait over 13 minutes because of that. Add the Font selection wait and other waiting or reformatting. Pierre
I'm working in RoboHelp 2019. I downloaded this help topic from the online help. Was the help generated in RoboHelp? My team really likes the "ON THIS PAGE" area (see Red box), with links to the respective headings. If it is or isn't, how do I get this look?
Hi,When, at the start of an empty line (break); If I press backspace, it won’t delete the previous line. If I press delete, it won’t delete the line I’m on. I have to go at the end of another line and press delete to delete the next line, and this does not always work.I’m just trying to delete an empty line, why is it so difficult? There is no configuration or formatting or a type of character before or after or whatever else that should make it impossible to delete a simple line.Pierre
Hi,New issue with the Drop-Down Text "box".I use the D-D-T for a dictionnary of actions for our technicians. They click the name of the action and its description appears. Very usefull and makes the page seem less dense.I started the dictionnary a few weeks ago. Went back in to finish it. Went at the bottom of the list of actions and typed in the next action. Further in that same Topic, I copied the definition of the action, went back to the action name and selected it. I then clicked the DropDown Text option button (icon). Normally, the "Type your dropdown text here" appears directly under the Header. This time, and for all the others I created today, the insert section appeared under a previously created DDT. At first, I would cancel the insertion, delete the new Header, save the cancellation and try again. Image below. After a few times that it did that, I copied the text in the offered insertion section. Below, the result in the Published page. The Headers Demande de renvoi... and th
Hi,I’m in a Topic that was imported from RH 2017. When I click in a line, the Font size will be shown, the Font type or the text format won’t. We should be able to see all the text information.Pierre
