Hi Peter, Willam van Weelden, Captiv8r, or anyone who would have suggestion to this complex scenario:We are working on a PoC where the product is installed on server A and the help is hosted on server B. Product calls the help via an URL:https://ipaddress_server_B/help1.0/index.htm.Server B has MS IIS configured that hosts the Responsive HTML5 help output. The complex scenario is that for v1.0, we have a set of users who will see all content and a set of users who will not see all the content. So when both the set of users access: https://ipaddress_server_B/help1.0/index.htm how can we ensure that they see what they are authorized to see?We have only one output and one URL that the users will access. By applying conditional text we can either hide or show the content in the entire output, but is it possible to filter by using tags in the URL? For example, I can apply tag1 and tag2 to different parts of the content. In that case, can we pull the relevant content by filtering in the URL.
Converting projects from Robohelp 10 to 2017. Discovered using this type of URL eg: X:/helpfolder/startpage.htm#path/target_topic_1.htm (reference to this info http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/calling_webhelp/using_urls.htm ) does not work properly in IE 11 but does in Google Chrome. In IE 11, the full topic page displays with the Show link - but without the TOC/Search panes. The Show link returns the default home page along with the TOC/Search pane - not the topic page.Any help out there would be appreciated.
Hello,I am currently trying out RoboHelp 2017's automation capabilies via rhcl.exeWe use a heavily customized version of the Indigo layout for our online help. Generating the help manually via RoboHelp works great, all additionally used JS files in the template as well as the usersettings.js are properly added to the output. However, when I try the same thing via rhctl, all JS files (including usersettings.js) are missing. At first, I figured it has something to do with our customizations to the Indigo layout, so I tried the same thing with the original RoboHelp 2017 Indigo layout. However, the same problem persists: The "<output folder>/template/Indigo/usersettings.js" file is missing in the help output generated via command line, but it is properly added when I generate the same project with the same template manually from RoboHelp. The missing usersettings.js file has the following effect:* Search does not work - I can enter something in the search field, but clicking enter just
Hi,We have an help output where we have a customized header image that we have added. That works fine. However, when we add title bar text in the responsive html5 output properties window under Output tab, the title bar text shows up in the header as well as the browser title. The text that shows up in the header overlaps the header image that I have. So, I want to hide that however, I just want it to appear in the browser title, which is fine. How can I achieve this?
Hi,I'm a current user of RH 11. I've downloaded the 2017 version as a trial to test new features, and have been using it without issue for 14 days.I was testing the Indigo layout and had some issue with the Index entries not aligning properly. I researched the problem and saw that Update 2 fixes this same issue. I updated my trial version. Now, I'm having issues with ALL my tested layouts (Indigo, Azure Blue, Charcoal). Nothing displays in the content pane when I click a TOC entry! It's blank. The TOC, Index and Filters work as expected. I've tried to create a new layout (with new name) and it's the same issue. And when I select a screen layout (any of the three above) to just preview - I get an error:This happens with any layout. I have 14 days left of a trial I can't use. Has anyone had this problem?
My team and I are running into a situation where Responsive HTML5 outputs take anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes to generate.Publishing the output takes less than a minute, but the generation times are killing us.Does the size (qty of topics/files) of the project have any bearing on this?Is there anything that can be done to reduce the generation time? Here are some details:Source files are stored in SharePoint using RoboHelp version control.Opening the project downloads the files to a directory on my local (C:) drive.Generated output is sent to the !SSL!\Responsive_HTML5 folder on the local drive.Typical setup:RoboHelp 2015 (Version 12.02.384)Windows 10Intel Core i5-6300U @ 2.40GHz16 GB RAM512 GB SSD
Does anyone know how to change the breadcrumb separator for the Indigo layout in RoboHelp 2017? I checked the Layout editor as well as the output CSS and JS files, and still couldn't find a place to specify a different character. Thanks!Amy D
In RoboHelp 2017 Responsive HTML 5 output, you can't toggle search highlight on and off (like you can in CHM or WebHelp output). (You can manually edit the code to turn it off completely, but end-users can't toggle it on or off.) Is the search highlight toggle now available in Responsive HTML 5 output?
Hello,I am using RoboHelp 2015 V12.0.4.460Just today, I've been experiencing problems setting up a Master Project to produce Merged Help for Web Help output. I have a number of topics that I want to list in the Master Project. In Version 1 of my help, it worked just fine. Today when I import the files into the Master Project, I need to rename the topics. Things were going fine and then I noticed after adding about 10 new topics, that some were missing. I read of a similar issue on the forum and followed the instructions:Add a Temp folderSavedCompiledEven more topics are now missing. I looked in Broken Links: not there. I also looked in IE, and found several of the topics listed outside the folder, but in the project. When I rename them and put them in the proper folder, they continue to disappear.I've been having trouble with another completely different project with it becoming corrupted when I create the Web Help output.I thought about Updates, since I have not applied any.I'm wonder
I need to delete all unused images from RH window explorer. I got the list from Unused files. But, how can I delete this in One go. Do we have any script for this?
Hello,We have a requirement where for product A, we have a standalone responsive html5 help. The same will be integrated in the help of product AB.What is the best approach here?Should we have a standalone help source for product A? and copy/paste the files in the help source of product AB?orShould we have a combined product AB help source and then apply conditions and generate/pull the desired output?Does copy/pasting files manually from one folder to another create any issues in the long run when content grows? What should be the best approach?
Hello all,From what I can tell, there are no drill-down TOC images available for desktop or tablet views in the Indigo responsive layout. In the editor within RoboHelp, it looks like drill-down images are only available for the mobile view (see first screenshot below). I have a large help system with many topic levels and would like drill-down arrows to appear in all views, not just mobile.Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get drill-down images to display in tablet and desktop views, or know why this limitation exists (before I submit a feature request)?Thank you!AmyLayout editor in RoboHelp: Example of generated layout with no drill-down arrows (tablet view):
I've been poking around in the forums and I can't seem to find anything that's matching up to the problem that I'm currently having. I'm using the Charcoal Responsive HTML5 layout, with only some modifications to how images and icons appear. I've tagged all of my topics across 3 different roles, to try and filter the content that's available to each user. This works just fine as far as narrowing down the content that's displayed in the TOC pane when I'm looking at the output, and even in opening up topics that I access from the TOC. However, when I go and run a search in the generated output, ALL of the content, regardless of how it's tagged, shows up in the Search results. I can even click on a result that I'm not supposed to be able to see, and view the content from a topic that is supposed to be filtered out by the filter I have set. Even going and changing around filters from the one I have set as Default still shows everything. Refreshing the page also does nothing. I have the sam
When creating a merged HTML5 project with 7 child projects, the merged project works fine locally except when published to the RoboServer. On the server, when I open the merged project by clicking View Project, the TOC does not display. Predictive search isn't working. But if I do a search, the results tab displays topics from the child projects which I can then open.By the way, when publishing, I get "No default window for <project name>" errors for the merged and child projects. I didn't think a default window was required for HTML5 layouts.I'm using RoboHelp 2017 with (Update 2). And I'm generating help with the Indigo layout.I've created merged projects (with parent and child projects) before with WebHelp Pro without this problem.
Hello Team,For one of our help system, when I generate a Responsive HTML5 output I see this:The right side appears blank. Any idea if something is wrong in the source code? I tried generating Responsive HTML5 output by using another source anc it worked well.Any idea how to troubleshoot this?
When I generate a word output the font spacing appears a bit out of space. It is readable but looks different in the source and the output (word or pdf) any reason why? I am using Georgia font.
How do I assign a default window for an HTML5 Layout? I'm generating help using the responsive HTML5 layout and want to assign a default window. I can find an option to do this when generating WebHelp Pro. But, I can't find the option to do this in the Responsive HTML5 output options.BTW, I'm using RoboHelp 2017.
I am using RoboHelp 2015 V 12.0.4.460I have created a Master Project and created mergedHelp topics in the TOC. When I create the output, not all the mergedHelp topics are displaying. I've searched and red topics in the Forum but can't find a solution. I'm using an output file that was used before and just added new topics. I was expecting all projects to be generated but they were not. I followed the instructions to generate the new topics.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,MDawn
I will be upgrading to RoboHelp 2017 from RoboHelp 2015. The promotional videos show Frameless Layouts, which is the direction I want to go. I currently produce the output in a merged help, tri-pane context. 18 merged projects, over 800 topics hooked up to individual programs - press F1 and get the topic for that screen. If (in RH 2017) I produce frameless layouts like this sample:I loose context sensitivity? The merged TOC books are the Icons at the bottom? The Search, Index, etc. are still merged across all projects?Thank you in advance for your kind reply.Mark
I created a new layout and it will not appear in the Manage Layout list or in the Gallery list on the Responsive HTML5 Settings dialog when I look at the properties for Responsive HTML5. A co-worker created the new layout, generated the output and then make sure it is all in on the RH Server. The new screen layout appears in my Output Setup pod under Screen layouts but again it doesn't appear in the dialog drop down or the gallery list. I need to make changes to the layout and don't know of any other way to access it to make the changes to the layout. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
The IT dept of a potential client has identified some of the Javascript in my Webhelp output as a potential security threat for cross-site scripting.Could someone please answer the following questions about the following code block? What is its purpose? Can all, or part of it be deleted? (And if so, please provide excruciatingly detailed instructions for removing javascript or minimising it in my output files.)Do you think that the javascript in webhelp constitutes a security threat?I am using RoboHelp 8 & don't know nothin' bout no javascript. This objection has never arisen before. The code block (and especially the if statements about two different windows)if (window.gbWhTopic){ var strUrl = document.location.href; var bc = 0; var n = strUrl.toLowerCase().indexOf("bc-"); if(n != -1) { document.location.href = strUrl.substring(0, n); bc = strUrl.substring(n+3); } if (window.addTocInfo) { } if (window.writeBtnStyle) writeBtnStyle(); if (window.writeIntopicBar)
Looks like our product branding guidelines will use proxima nova font. This I don't think is available in the system or RH. Is it possible to add a new font to RH?Or does it show up in the list when it is added to Windows fonts?
Hello,I am using RH 2017 for an API reference manual because of its advantage that we can output it as an online help/chm as well as printed documentation from the same source.I have some sections that have wide tables (with 5 to 6 columns). While it looks fine in the CHM or online help, is it possible to adjust the width or orientation of such pages to landscape, in RH?So all other sections can be portrait and only the sections with wide tables can be landscape. Is that doable? If not, any other solution/suggestion?
Hi,We have help content that has many long tables about 50. At the moment we are maintaining the source in RH and generating a printed doc output (word/pdf).However, CHM may also be demanded given that its navigation is better than a PDF, similar to an online help. How do we generate a CHM output? If not CHM is there any other similar output that can serve the purpose? We want a single packaged file.
I have a RoboHelp 2015 project that uses multilevel list styles. The original project designer named the styles based on the sequence of styles defined for the level (e.g., "NumberBulletAlpha" means the style was defined to apply a number to the first level, a bullet to the second level, and an alpha character to the third level of indent). Some of the early styles were simply named "FirstLevelBullet", and only the first level was defined for this style. While most of the topics in the project use no more than three levels, many of the topics in the project use 5 levels and a few use 6. To minimize the creation of additional styles (the project already has 14), I have been defining additional styles for existing multilevel list styles.I also discovered some time back that you can apply multiple multilevel list styles to the same list in a help topic. For example, if most of a list requires number, bullet, alpha, circle, but one part of the list requires nu
