Missing xmlreadhelper.js file when checking in to source control

Hi.I've inherited many help files in this job, one of which outputs to WebHelp. I checked out the files, then updated and generated them. I got no errors and viewed the output just fine. Now when I try to check the files back in, I get an error about this missing file and cannot check in the rest of the files. I wanted to ask if anyone knows what the xmlreadhelper.js file is for before summarily deleting it from source control.Thanks,Dimi Mestier

Changing the default first page in Robohelp

I have looked through the manual and have been unable to change the default page that opens up when you push 'generate primary layout in robohelp. Currently when i generate primary view it opens on a very unimportant page. I want it to open on the title page i have created. Can anybody tell me how i would go about doing this. Thanks

How are you handling GDPR req. for your online help?

I was told just yesterday that I need to add a script to every online helpset that requires users to accept (or not) that the help uses cookies. I would think that the standard browser cookie functionality should be sufficient. Anyway, I added a "cookie consent" script between the <head></head> tags in the Topic.slp file for every single helpset that we have made available online. (That's for Responsive HTML.) I need to do the same to all of my older help files that used WebHelp or HTML5 help.Is this long, tedious process really necessary? Is there a better way?Thanks,Karla

Resolving unbroken broken links in RH 2017

I was working in a very long topic and suddenly saw a broken link notification. RoboHelp shows four broken links to the same popup, but of course clicking Edit does not take me to the actual link RH thinks is broken, only to the page. I had not touched that popup anywhere in the topic. I have checked every one of the named popups--and there are many--and they all display properly. I checked the links in the RH topic and in the topic preview. How can I get resolve an error that's not there?--sigh--Never mind. The problem was that the popup link text is shown two different ways (I did not create this topic) and I copied some links that used the second format. RH does not like to copy links, I've found. I could have easily figured this out if RoboHelp was actually helpful enough to take you directly to whatever links it thinks are broken.

Is a Sentence Level Wordcount Possible via Scripting?

I'm interested in creating a script that works at the sentence level that counts the number of words in a selected sentence and reports it in the Output View to help the author write more concisely. Is such a thing is possible in RoboHelp 9, the verison I have? For example, can a RH script operate on selected text, like it can in a Word macro?It's been a while since I've worked ona RH script, but from what I remember, something like this isn't possilble.If that isn't possible, is it possible to to it at the topic level? For example, go through each sentence, count all the words in each sentence in a topic, and if any sentence is greater than the number of specified words, it displays that sentence in the output view.

Unable to Create Preview Window Error when Clicking View Item Robohelp 2015

When I click the View Item button in RoboHelp to generate a preview of a topic, the following error message appears:It persists through all topics, projects, and even after restarting the program and the computer. Not sure what is causing it because just a few weeks ago, I was able to use this button without issue.Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Full Text Search only searches some words

I developed a help system on RoboHelp 9, then upgraded to RoboHelp 11 and most recently upgraded to RoboHelp 2017 about a year ago. A few months ago it was reported that the search function only worked some of the time. My investigation has shown that items entered into the system prior to upgrading to 2017 seem to be included in the search and items entered after upgrading to 2017 do not appear in the search. I've combed the forums and helper websites and cannot find anything related to this issue regarding searching. I've checked and double checked my settings and all appears to be correct.Do I need to make some change to my 2017 so the full text search will truly search all words? Any help/insight is much appreciated.

Custom TOC icons?

Hi,I'd like to flag entries in the TOC with symbols to indicate the type of link - a document, a link to a file, etc.  The Help in RoboHelp says there is an Image section in the Properties/Advanced, but I don't see anything.  Am I missing something?Thanks for any help...

Drop-down menu sorting objects on the page

Hi there, I realize this may be purely HTML question but I want to implement it in Robohelp so I believe this is the right place to ask the question.What I have is a simple page with several tiles/images (see the image).I added also a drop down menu. What I want to happen is that when I select the first option only the red objects are visible on the page. When I select the blue one - only the blue should be visible. The default value will be something like "select" and all the tiles/images will be visible. Here is also the codeThanks in advanceB

Indigo HTML5 layout - Index and Glossary slide-out on the left hand side?

Hi everyone,I believe this question may have been addressed once before, but it was not answered definitively - my project manager is insistent on me finding a way to change the default HTML5 responsive Indigo layout behavior. Currently, in the Indigo HTML5 layout, the Index, Glossary and Favorites 'slideout' from the right-hand side of the screen. (please see screenshot below)Is there any way to change this behavior and have the Index, Glossary etc. slideout from the left hand side? Most websites have this orientation so it's strange that Adobe chose the right hand side of the screen.  I've looked all through the RoboHelp editor settings and it doesn't appear to have any option to move the Index and Glossary from the right to the left side of the screen.Really appreciate any help at all from users that may have found a way to get around this issue!Thanks very much.Billy

Embedding youtube video in Robohelp 17

I am embedding youtube videos in Webhelp.I used the Insert Multimedia option and selected Web URL.I copied the youtube link and pasted it the Source area (example: https:www.youtube.com/watch....)Some of the videos play correctly. Some do not.Here is the error message from one video that would not play:An error occurred. Please try again later. Style not reflected in webhelp

I have differentiated the heading from the body by headings. My headings are arial bold and blue. They are displayed  in some places as blue and in some places it is bold and in some place it is just normal paragraph few paragraphs are perfect. What should I do?

RH2017 - Indigo layout, Customizing tile icons on home page

I am exploring the Indigo layout in a trial of RH 2017. In my trial copy, there's a Layout Customization section where you can customize the icons that show on the tiles of the main/home help page (I think RH calls it the landing page). However, according to this page Issues resolved in Adobe RoboHelp (2017 release), that part of the Layout Customization window is going away with Update 2 of RH 2017. The page says "The Home (Custom Icons) component in the Indigo layout is no longer available. With this, customizing TOC icons for the landing page is not possible through the Layout Customization interface. You can still customize the landing page icons through CSS."How cumbersome (or not) is the process for customizing these icons behind the scenes? Do you only deal with the "toc_c_images.css" file, or are there other CSS files you have to deal with, for example to set the use of custom icons to True or to point your project to the right spot for retrieving your custom icon images? RoboHelp 2015 WebHelp output appends "_nc" to image

RH 2015, latest updateWindows 10RoboHelp HTML, WebHelp outputWe have a "NavigationPath" style in many topics to show users how they get to the user interface component, such as an Options pane, described in the topic. The style is bulleted, with the bullet being a "location pin" image named "navigation_2.png".We have used this image for 2-3 years without any problem. Suddenly, over the last week, when we generate WebHelp output, RoboHelp renames the image, by adding "_nc" to the name: "navigation_2.png" becomes "navigation_2_nc.png". As a result, the output no longer shows the image. (I work around the problem by renaming the PNG without the "_nc", but would prefer to keep this from happening each time I generate the output.)Has anyone experienced this bizarre issue?Thanks.Caro

Red x on a lot of topics in my robohelp15 project

I upgraded to 2015 about 10 months ago from RoboHelp8.  Recently, our help project with over 900 topics opened with red x on a lot of topics.  No one has used explorer to delete or add topics.  My team went through the process of using broken links to reinstate the topics in the project.  It looked liked it worked, but the generated build to the RoboServer10 was a mess.  I believe that I experienced this problem back in 2011 with  robohelp8https://forums.adobe.com/thread/165870this is the thread from that timeBack then, I was told to delete the .cpd file and .xpj and open with .hpp file, I believe.Has anyone experienced this with 2015robohelp?  If you were able to resolve, I would certainly appreciate your help.Regards,Lana JohnsonVerint

Styles not shown properly in Indigo output

I have defined a multilevel list style and a bold body style in the CSS that are not being shown properly in the Indigo Responsive HTML output. Figure 1. RoboHelp StyleFigure 2. Indigo OutputWhat is causing this and how do I fix it?

How do I fix the popups location issue?

I am working with RoboHelp 2015. I have a legacy project for chm help and there are images in the topics with  hyperlinks to other topics. The links are displayed in auto-sizing popups. In one project, everything works just fine. When you click the hotspot, the popup opens adjacent to the image. After generating the output (chm help), when I click an image hotspot, the popup  opens at the top left of the topic pane. Actually, the popups suppose to open adjacent to the image.  Interestingly, the popup location issue relates only to popups called by image maps. If there are other links to popup topics in the text, they behave as expected.

Importing .slz file

Good morning everyone (it's morning here in South Africa).  I recently updated to RoboHelp 2017 and checked out the new layouts.  Obviously I'm quite the fan of the Indigo layout, since it looks quite a bit better than the old Azure Blue I was using, and I want to continue with it.Now, first thing I noticed was that the topic width was a bit on the low side (50rem).  I followed the instructions on this page here:  RoboHelp screen profiles and layouts and managed to update this width to 75rem.  I did all I was told and now I'm sitting with a .slz file I am told to import into RoboHelp.Herewith my question though - how the hell do I do that?    Seriously, I have searched high and low and can't find the simple answer.  I have the file on my desktop, ready to go and all eager to change something, but I can't seem to import it.  Can someone please help me?To date I have tried all the menus - I can't find an "import" button that does this.  D

Conditional tags work locally but not on web server

After I generate my pages and view locally, the content that I have excluded with a conditional tag is not visible - everything works great!I have 3 conditional tags and all three work properly when viewed locally.When I ftp the files to the web server, only content from one of the tags is hidden.When I look at the properties of the conditional tags, only Quick Tips shows the NOT expression.I tried removing all 3 conditional build tags and only using one and still have the same problem. It works locally but not after I ftp the files to the web server.I must be copying something I shouldn't? Thanks for any ideas you can provide.Mary Ann

Updates to a document made in Robohelp are missing.

Hello,Some data that I made in a release that we did is missing in my next release.I'm using RH 2015 and we make 2 release cuts a year and they are in sequence (i.e- release 87, release 88, etc.) It consists of merging 9 separate projects into a parent project. (linking of child projects with a parent and outputting it into Responsive HTML 5). Anyway, for every change in documentation, there is a modification table so we can put the "mod number" and a description of what was changed at the bottom of each child project.As I make the modification's, I use the outputted parent to do word searches and such. I was looking at my latest release (88) and making changes in our new release (89) and I noticed stuff I did in release 88 is not there anymore in release 89. I doubled back to release 88 and all of the changes are still there in the source itself. I go back to my release 89 projects it is missing certain things.I was wondering if it is how I copy the data or something? (Though I do not

RoboHelp2015 Single Quote Causes the Remaining Text to Change

I looked through the forum already and found that people were using the curly quotes or apostrophe and it wouldn't convert well. I am not using content converted from Word or any other tool. The topic was created from scratch. Insert table is auto including column width

Robohelp 2017I am working on creating a CSS style for a table.  I want the first column to be a fixed width (to accommodate an image) and can't seem to figure it out.  I thought I had all the CSS html code defined properly, but when I insert I get <col style="width: 50%;" /> added automatically to the topic html code, which of course overwrites my CSS.  Anyone know how to make this stop?

Images in snippets are not being checked in RoboSource

I have a project where a colleague is not getting the images I place in snippets.  I went and looked at SourceControl and the images are not there.  All of my other files are there.  If i click on a file locally that is missing from my colleague's computer, the "Get Latest Version" grays out.  This is telling me that it is missing from version control.  Any ideas why an image in my baggage folder is not in source control?  Do I need to manually drag them to source control?  Seems odd that only images used in .hts files are missing.

Not getting other user updates

We have three users that use RoboHelp. We use SourceControl to get each others updates. Referring to each user as computer A, B, and C. Computer A gets all updates, even those completed by B and C. Computers B and C do not get any updates that A is has completed. On computer A, RoboSource is always up to date according to all changes. On computer B and C, RoboSource only has the updates that only they did individually. We make sure all topics are checked in each time we log out. We always get latest version before we publish. Is there something we're missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
