Hi,I'm relatively new to RoboHelp so please excuse any ignorance on my part - i'm also not a web developer by trade, we are currently using RoboHelp 2017 to generate and display responsive HTML5 help pages - perfect. However I've now looked at integrating some of our training resources within this interface as well, I've played with using the HTML editor and successfully created and integrated interactive material quizzes etc.. which led me to Adobe Captivate. As such I've been using the captivate demo to produce HTML5 & SWF files which are easily imported and embedded into frames in RH - no issues. However the flash content does not run well in our flagship browser and our development teams are not willing to invest efforts into supporting it as "Adobe flash will be redundant by 2020". As such I've been using the pure HTML5 Captivate outputs and creating new topic pages for each captivate project, first efforts were unsuccessful however I quickly realised I was now calling f
Hi,I want to include an image to appear at the end of a hyperlink similar to a twisty. In RoboHelp 2015, I can click the Set Twisties button and use the Select Twisties Images dialog box to add an image. The image appears in the Character Preview box but not in the topic. Is what I want to do possible or am I stuck manually inserting images over and over again? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Good morning! I feel like I've asked this question before, but for the life of me I cannot find the answer. Anyway, I have one large Help file I use for our software. We are currently working on a new software version, so I would like to start a brand new Help file for this new version but I want the topics in my current file to be used in the new file. Does this make sense? Can I copy the contents from one file to another or do I need to import. Our software runs a chm file of Help. The help topics are created in HTML. First I generate in WebHelp and then generate WebHelp to CHM Converter. Running to a meeting but appreciate any comments. Thank you!
Hi, I'm using the RoboHelp 2017 trial version. I changed the icon in the Header for the Mobile App Settings layout customization. The icon I selected appears in the preview, but the default still shows up in the output. I assume that is not a bug. I just want to confirm that the output in the Trial version is preventing a customized icon from appearing.
Selected toolbar such as Contents, Index, Search, Glossary should generally be highlighted, so that it is helpful for the users to know where they are. Such highlights are clearly visible on Internet Explorer and Firefox but not on Chrome. A solution would be highly appreciated.
Hi,We have the following scenario. We have an online help/web help that is bundled with the software. There is a specific requirement to also provide a PDF/printed output of the same help content to users who prefer a PDF.The problem is that when the online help is saved as a printed document (either PDF or word) the document is not very user friendly. This is because it befits a web help more than a PDF. The page number is about 800+. The same ToC that is seen in the web help is converted to PDF.Is there a better way or idea to reorganize/generate a PDF of the same online help?
I have a project maintained in version control via SharePoint that I need to pull down into my now-updated RoboHelp 2017. I'll get all the way through setting up my local path and have the files pulled down. However, once I click the .xpj file, it acts like it's going to open and hits me with a "Server busy, switch to busy program to activate and close it."When you try to do so, though, it only brings up the start menu and doesn't actually take you to a program to close. Any time you click away, it brings you back. Eventually, I have to open Task Manager to kill RoboHelp.I did already try this registry fix on another computer (I have two and am receiving the same error on both): Msscci with RoboHelp – michal.Log No dice. I also tried these fixes on the chance they worked: Server Busy error when launching or using Lightroom on WindowsNo dice there, either. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled using fresh packages for RoboHelp and SQL Compact Server. Winmerge is up to date. I do not h
Hi, I recently followed some very helpful advice on this forum on adding an image to the right side of the header in the Charcoal_Grey output for the Responsive HTML5 output in RoboHelp 2017. I added the following in the Layout.css file, which worked perfectly:div.header { background-image: url('logo_test.png'); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: right center;}However, I now need to add a pinstripe that runs all the way across the header, as shown in the attached image. Please could you advise how I can do this. Could I add another image, and specify its position below the above image, or perhaps it would be possible to create another "header" and place it below the existing one? Any advice would be appreciated.Original post:Adding an image to the header in RoboHelp 2017
I am currently writing an online help in English, so I defined styles for Titles and paragraphs. Header (1) (Tahoma/ 16pt) spacing (Before 6pt/ After 6pt)Par (1) Tahoma/ 10pt) spacing (Before 0pt/ After 3pt)Header (2) (Tahoma/ 14pt) spacing (Before 6pt/ After 6pt) Indentation (Left 0.5cm/ Right 0cm)Par (2) Tahoma/ 10pt) spacing (Before 0pt/ After 3pt) Indentation (Left 0.5cm/ Right 0cm)When I apply them to the text, they didn't appear when I click (View Item), However, it only appears in Design mode. What Shall I do?
When I search for a keyword, the search result shows incomplete keywords selected. For example, if I type the word 'site', in the search result, only the letters 'sit' are highlighted. If I type 'managed', it highlights 'manag' only. What is the logic behind such search result. If there is any solution to it.
Hello all,Problem Description: When using CSS cursor Property (Controls what the mouse cursor will look like when it is located over the element); the application (Rh) does not read the cursor Property when implemented in a HTML help page. When previewing using Rh Preview Topic pane or a compiled CHM browser, it does not respond (e.g. hovering over an image map section of an image). However, it does work in IE, Chrome, and Mozilla.Steps to Reproduce: Paste the following code below into your Rh HTML page.
Actual Result: Hovering over an 'Image Map' section, the cursor does NOT change into a cursor help icon, rather than its default cursor pointer (when hovering over an image-map or hyperlink section).Using the CSS cursor Property code in CSS/HTML does NOT work in CHM browser relevant in the browsers (mentioned above) in which there is a mouse and curs
There is something wrong with my Chrome settings that is preventing me from running search in Responsive HTML5 Layout generated help. When search is initiated in my chrome hosted environment, the search hangs (see picture) when Help is generated through Responsive HTML5 Layout or New Responsive HTML5 Layout. It works when generated in WebHelp, Multiscreen HTML5 or New Multiscreen HTML5Note that my coworker can run the search perfectly fine on chrome (same current version) and tech support could also not reproduce the issue.Has anyone else run into this and solved this? I think that I have a weird setting or library issue.I am a day into trying to figure this out including several remote desktop sessions with Adobe RH tech support. No issues in IE or Firefox. Also--this is new, I checked in the same help environment just a couple of weeks ago, no problem searching from Chrome browser in Responsive HTML5 on my machine.I have:exported the build to mac environment, same resultsUPGRADED/REIN
Hi all, I have a requirement that change the name of the Index tab in chm file to another name like Sync, fox example. I don't have this experience, anyone knows, please help me. Thank you.Goldfish184.
We have a process that actually creates a compile-able help project on the fly (based on parsing of source code). In the past it was only used to compile an HTML project with the Microsoft help compiler so it only created the .hhp, .hhk and .hhc files (along with all the content pages). We now want it to create all the files that RH would need so that we can use RH to compile various targets. I've examined all the various project files and it seems pretty straightforward to create everything except the .cpd file (it's the only binary file). I've also found out that, at least on the surface, the .cpd file is not needed to open a project because it will get regenerated automatically if missing. But I wonder what information might be stored in the .cpd that can't be regenerated by RH so I can see if anything would be fundamental to our use.Can anyone tell me what operations might be done in RH, stored in the .cpd file and then missing if the .cpd file was erased and recreated automaticall
I recently upgraded from RoboHelp 11 to RoboHelp 2017. I have successfully created Merging Help projects using FM 12 and RH 11. I am using the same files updated in FM 2017 and RH 2017. Everything in the Merged Projects looks fine until I try to generated Multscreen HTML5. I get the following error message:Please HELP! I really need this to work.
Hello .... We have recently migrated a RHv5 project to RHv7 ... Phew.... but for some reason we have a folder that seems to contain a few images that I have been unable to delete. I don't have the option to delete when I right click on the folder! Other folders are fine ... which indicates my access is A-ok ... I can create a sub folder in this folder and delete it ... but I just can't seem to get rid of it! We are using RoboSource Control 3.1 so its a shared project with just 2 authors, Any help ... greatly appreciated! Ta Fi.
getting this error when trying to edit a .xpj file "Unable to initialize DAO/Jet db engine" It is being generated when I try to upgrade the project to a newer version. Is there an easy fix for this? Thank You

How do I create a link to a remote topic in a CHM in a different folder? I don't want to move the other chm to the same folder as the project I am working in. A similar question was asked a few years ago and the answer wasHi thereThey will either need to be in the same folder or they will need to be registered with Windows. Otherwise, one has no clue the other exists. Cheers... Rick Since the CHMs won't be in the same folder, how do I register them with Windows? Thanks.Julia
In Robohelp 11 I am experimenting that some pages aren’t showed either in the Robohelp’s preview or in the browsers.I have seen in the output file some code lines and scripts that I am sure Robohelp added by itself. I am experimenting that some pages are showed with that “extra” code lines and some do not.In some cases, if I delete the code of that file, the pages are showed in a normal way. In the beginning I was sure that the problem was due to the added code in the files, but when I copy and paste some pages with the problem, the pasted page (the new page) doesn’t have any problem and it is showed in a normal way. And also if I compare the html output of both pages, it is the same. This is the code which I am talking about:<script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScri
We have web help for our internet payroll. We are using the Map Id and calling the HTML page through Map Id's in a popup window by clicking on the ? image. But the popup window is blocked by current version of Firefox and Chrome it is working fine in the current version of IE. Although I have unblocked the Pop Up setting in Firefox and Chrome but still this both the browser are blocking the Popup. Is it to do with the security, as our web help is not on the https:// server.Error shown
RH 2017 (13.0.279)Primary Output: Html Help (CHM)Hi Folks,We use twisties in our help project. These are the little triangle images that point downwards and to the right when you expand or collapse dropdown text.Is there a way to get the output to show a different triangle image on a mouse-over? You can see in these dropspot links that we use a gray mouse-over color for the hover text. But the collapsed triangle and the expanded triangle for the twisties don't ever change on a hover.I know it's a minor thing, and if it's not too much work, we would like to implement a third triangle color whenever we hover over the text so that it matches the text's hover color. Here's part of our style sheet code. Yellow highlight deals with the current images we use in the twisties. The red arrow points to where we're defining the hover color:However, I suspect the issue is more javascript related than CSS related, especially so for a .chm output. Has anyone ever done this with their twisties?
Hi peter,If i want to add display a table along with text as a expand to collapse then how can i do that in robohelp 17
Recently, I uploaded a new Word document into my RoboHelp project which contains a table. When I did this, I expected that it would show up as a new topic. But in addition to the new topic (Assessment Tool Icon Guide), a folder appeared with three gif files. Why did this occur? Additionally, is there a way to delete these files? Is there a way to prevent this from happening to give the Project Manager a cleaner look, since we'll be importing it into our web application?
Hi,About a month ago, I had my print documentation headings in okay shape. Not perfect, but better than what I discovered than when I went into RoboHelp today.Peter, I've read your Web site but still struggle with getting this right. Do you have any thoughts on what has happened to have caused this? I hadn't generated my print documentation in a month when I saw all this today. Here's what my TOC looked like a month ago - 3.1.3 is correct, but 3.1.4 through 3.1.7 need to be Heading 4s. 3.2, 3.2.1, etc. are correct. Here's what my TOC looks like today - see how 3.1.1 (above) is now Heading 4, and 3.2 (above) is now 4.8, and 3.2.1 (above) is now 5.
