We have successfully installed Robo Help Server 9 and Apache Tomcat 7.0. My colleague and I have followed the steps in the Integrating RoboHelp projects with Subversion article to set up version control using Subversion with the PuskOK plugin. We are not getting the results expected as far as collaboration. When I open RoboHelp, I am able to check out files, and I see that the status updates to “Checked Out” in the File Status Pod accordingly. I am able to check files in as well. However, when my colleague opens the same project from version control, in her File Status pod, most of the files show “not controlled.” She cannot see that I have checked out a file either. In my File Status Pod I see a few project files ( a few .fpj files, for example) that show up as “not controlled.” Those are the only files that seem to be under version control in my colleague’s project. I have read the recent posts related to this issue, but I have not found any that resulted in a satisfactory outcome for using RH with the Subversion, PughOK plugin set
I wondered if you have had this situation occur with your output from Robohelp 10.I created my help system and CSS using Robohelp 10. My CSS contains a numbered list style and an alpha list style, both having line spacing of 3pt before and 3pt after. Looks great in Robohelp WYSIWYG, but the generated output (in IE and Chrome) looks bad. The numbered list line has way too much line spacing after (the next style is a non-numbered list style) and the alpha list has way too little line spacing.I tried playing around with changing the line spacing but it does not change the output!Thought I'd reach out to see if you have experienced this issue and the most expedient way to resolve. Here is an example of HTML tags in Robohelp:numbered list<?rh-list_start level="1" an="1" class="rl-p-1ListNumber" start="1" style="list-style: rh-list; list-style: rh-list;" ?><p class="1ListNumber">instruction text.</p><?rh-list_end ?>alpha list<?rh-list_start level="1" an="1" c
If I right click on one of the screen layout pages in the Screen Layouts section of the Project Set-up area RoboHelp crashes. If I create a new one the editor opens, but RoboHelp crashes as soon as I try edit it. I can manually edit the slp files in a text editor but this isn't particularly easy!I have RoboHelp 11.0.3.268. I have tried creating an entirely new project and the same thing happens. I am working locally on my desktop, publishing to a server. I have not yet added any source control to the project.Any suggestions would be very welcome.
All- Does one have to purchase CALs in order to use a RH Server deployment with SQL Server. My IT guy seems to think that if we expect, say, a maximum of 20 users hitting our site at once, then 40 CALs would be required to support this. So is it true that CALs are require in all SQL Server supported cases, and that the CAL count varies with expected concurrent users?Thx. in advance.-Kurt
Using RH10:Before I got here, all help was done as CHM... and most of our users go offline during the day when using the software because of the locations they are in (no internet connections available). Our application is not a web based app because of this. We would like to start using a webhelp output however so that we have better working files, etc. The developer states that the webhelp "package" of files can be downloaded onto a laptop with the software. However, he is concerned that when this occurs, because there is no network to automatically map the topics to the correct screens, that once offline, the map IDs will no longer work to bring up the right page of help as a CSH.Can anyone speak to this? Is this a problem? If so, any idea how to get around this? Thanks!
HiI'm using RoboHelp for a long time and now version 11. I have a big problem with glossary. I'm generating marked terms automatically. I have some terms of several word. For example my glossary has terms "Virtual" and "Virtual computer". The problem is that, if I have the text "bla bla bla Virtual computer bla bla bla", sometimes only "Virtual" is marked (wrong) and sometimes in other rubrics "Virtual computer" is entirely marked (and I want only that feature).Could you help me or explain me?ThanksBoris.
TOC has died / disappeared in the responsive HTML5 output, it's available in smaller views, but not in full screen.Basically get a Loading... prompt and nothing is happening. I'm near the end of a sprint and don't have the time to figure out what went wrong. Hoping someone can help...However it's fine in other views (smartphone/ tablet etc...)This happened out of the blue with no tinkering to the TOC. Please Help! Thanks...
I have 2 users working in Robohelp 11. I have uploaded a project to SharePoint 2010 and it seems to funtion fine with version control. I would like to connect a second user to that same project on SharePoint so the 2 users can collaborate. However, I don't see any options in Robohelp that allows for a user to connect to an existing project on sharepoint, only to upload a new project. Please help. Thanks,Dan
"Add a project to a SharePoint document library" is nicely documented in the RoboHelp reference guide. However there is no information on adding another user to that library, i.e. how do you synchronize that user with the library on SharePoint? Do they open a new project and restore the files...? I have no idea how to do this - spent the last 2 hours trying to figure this out as there in no information on this - not even on Google searches. It's really a shame that a powerful help authoring tool is lacking help itself. I'm a fan of robohelp, however when you face roadblocks like this - it's very frustrating. This should be something simple to do and it should be clearly documented. Can someone please help.
I am unable to get a custom button to display in my webhelp output. I tried adding a custom button. In the Custom Toolbar Item window I added the required info (name, text, image) including a link to our product website (on the action tab), but the button does not show up in the toolbar. I tried editing the About option but it does not display either. I basically can't get any button to show up other than the defaults in the Toolbar -> Main panel. I am using the skin editor. The custom button shows up when I click Preview in the skin editor, but when I generate the help, the button is not there. Any tips?
I see lots of information in the forums about going from Frame to RoboHelp, but not the other way. Our company purchased FrameMaker in order to avoid the extremely painful process of converting our online help source into a book using Microsoft Word, which works fine for books under a few hundred pages, but it is a nightmare for the 1600-page PDFs that we produce. Can anybody tell me if it is possible to import a project from RoboHelp10 to FrameMaker12?
I have several drop-down hotspots on a page/topic. Because these can occur quite far down the page, I want to be able to add an image that the reader can click on to return to the top of the topic. I have a bookmark at the top of the page setup to link the map ID to. However, while I can create a map ID rectangle around the image, I can't find any way to link it to the bookmark at the top of the page.So I am wondering if you can use an image map within a DD hotspot at all.Is it possible to set up an image map this way? If so, HOW?Thanks,kb
We have contacted Adobe for assistance, but I also wanted to post this question in case someone has experienced this and can quickly provide a solution.EnvironmentWindows 7 EnterpriseRoboHelp 11.0.3.268Generating WebHelp Team Foundation ServerVisual Studio Professional 2010 Source ControlProblemI'm the original author of the Touchstone Help system. Last week we started getting two colleagues on board to work with me. On their systems, we configured RoboHelp to work with TFS in Visual Studio using MSSCI Provider 2010.The original project had lots of conditional build tags. I removed them all and the expressions and checked everything into Source Control. When my colleagues got the latest files from Source Control and opened the project from Version Control, we noticed that their projects still had the conditional build tags along with other items that had long ago been deleted. After some research, we deleted the CPD and PSS files from Source Control and let RoboHelp create them when we
When I try to import .pdf forms into RoboHelp 11, the fields get garbled. Is there any way around this?
Hello-I'm currently using RoboHelp to create an HTML-based internal user guide for a software product. This guide has many images and figures in it and each will need an accompanying caption. Each caption must appear centered directly beneath the accompanying image. I need some guidance on two issues, please:1. What is the best practice for inserting a caption along with an image? I currently cannot find any tool or which enables a RoboHelp user to insert an image into a document and designate a caption to be displayed with that image.2. Each image will be uniquely numbered (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.). It may be necessary, as the document is drafted and redrafted, to remove images from and insert other images into the document. How can the numbering of images be set up so that the removal or addition of an image will automatically reset the numbering of all affected images accordingly? I would very much like to avoid resetting dozens of image number-designations manually.Tha
It seems as though viewing multimedia in a CHM file generated with RH9 or RH10 is broken. I have a project that was originally created with RH7 or RH8. It's been upgraded to RH9. Today, I noticed that an SWF file embedded in a help topic is not working in the compiled CHM. It's works in the Viewer in the project. Others seem to be having similar issues. I haven't seen any definitive answers posted. What does Adobe have to say?
It looks like after upgrading to Robohelp 10, the Webhelp compile no longer produces a "whcshdata.htm" file in the output, but instead produces "whcshdata.js." I can't find anything in RN about htis change, but wondering if anyone knows if this is true? Thanks
EnvironmentWindows 7 EnterpriseRoboHelp 11Team Foundation ServerVisual Studio 2010 Professional -- Source ControlThree of us are starting to work on a Help project together. We are working from Version Control. We will be setting up collaboration guidelines, such as, 'don't work on the same topic at the same time'.However, when we open our projects, RoboHelp prompts us to check out the XPJ file and we are not sure what the effect is in a collaborative environment running in Source Control. Will we run into version conflicts? The RoboHelp Help says that we don't have to check out the XPJ file when editing, only when editing project settings. However, RoboHelp won't let us click No in response to the prompt. Thanks for any guidance on this issue.Carol
I am using RH 11, and tracking changes. I use the Add Review Comment option extensively to indicate to my reviewers which screen shot is for the new release as well as to ask questions of them and explain why I am taking out a particular sentence. I use Tools --> Create PDF for Review, and I've been testing saving it to my local drive or emailing it to myself. The redlining for deletions and green writing for additions works fine. However, for areas where I have comments, I have yellow highlighting, but cannot see the comment.Any ideas as to why?I'm desperate to get this review process started, and so I sent a request Adobe's tech support email as well as called them. I have a MAJOR deadline to get my materials to reviewers, and I direly need those comments to show.I'm wondering if any of you wizards of RH have any ideas. Here is exactly what I sent in my email to Adobe: Thank you for any help you can offer!
Could you, please, answer the following question:is there a possibility to create a Book TOC, as it can be done for topics Insert Placeholder -> Topic TOC, for example. Many thanks)
We converted from RH7 to RH10 earlier this year, and our application uses the XML files in whxdata to connect help buttons to topics. It seems that RH10 is not creating these XML files, which is breaking this functionality. Some searching indicates that these files should be created when the primary WebHelp layout is being built. I can't find any settings anywhere that indicates whether or not they should be created. Is this a consequence of the conversion, or does RH10 not create these files anymore?
All-Continued tests of the RH Server seems to show that when someone (say, a customer who's interested in accessing content) attempts to access a protected site, they are presented with the standard RHS Admin login screen:I'm interested to know:If this is in fact the default screen a customer (content consumer) would see, andIf there's a way to customize this image.Colum's response to the discussion here:customize robohelp server web adminSeems to indicate that customization is NOT possible (tho the thread is 4 years old.)Thanks!
Good afternoon.Running RoboHelp 11, integrated with Team Foundation Server and Visual Studio 2010.When my two colleagues recently "got" the latest project files from Source Control, they also got items that had been removed or deleted. For example, I had removed all conditional build tags from my project, but their version still included the build tags. Eventually, thanks in part to an old post from Peter Grainge, we realized that the PSS in Source Control contained a lot of that old information. We deleted the PSS and stopped checking it into Source Control. Problem solved. No more conditional build tags or unwanted Single Source Layouts, etc. (I think the PSS got checked in by our Release Engineer when he was trying to solve some other problem. Two years ago it was not being checked in.)I vaguely remember reading something somewhere once upon a time about not checking certain RoboHelp project management files into Source Control. So far I've not found any such information in th
