Illustration - take the following topic, which has Title test topic (1) and an h1 Heading 1 text (2): Generating a Frameless output results in the Title (1) being displayed in the TOC:Generating a PDF output, however, results in the H1 (2) being displayed in the TOC: Is there a way to display (1) Title instead for PDF, as is the case with Frameless? Hi,I have Robohelp 2020 and am working on a Help file. I noticed that when I delete an image, part of the workspace turns white. I can still scroll and see what's on the page, but in a small space (please see screenshot). Does anyone know why this is happening? If I click onto other topics the layout looks fine. Thanks, Julianna
Sorry folks but all the links in the threads on this forum are now broken. 😞 I have redone the site in RoboHelp for two reasons. It simplifies the maintenance. In due course I will be handing it over to someone else. I am planning to maintain it myself for a few years but I'm not getting any younger. My health is generally good but who knows? In most cases entering the file name from your old link will find the topic in the new site. ________________________________________________________ My site www.grainge.org includes many free Authoring and RoboHelp resources that may be of help.
Hi everyoneUsing RoboHelp 2022.My attempts at using dynamic search filters had been a great success. They're working great on the TOC and onto the search results as well; whether for the parent project or its children.Only issue remaining to tackle : in several projects, there are numerous files sourced from other departments in PDF format and must remain as such. They are packaged in ROboHelp and ouput along htm files and display correctly when clicked. However, I was unable to fined a way to tag them like htm files for "product/docType/version" properties of their contents. So currently, all PDF files pop up in search results regardless of what "product/docType/version" filters are applied. I don't want to exclude the PDFs from search results all together either. I just want them to behave like htm files, and for each of them to show up in results only when it matches the filter(s) applied.Any hints as to how to proceed from here are greatly appreciatedAyman
There are different versions of the main software for which I want to take portions of the main help and then trim topics which do not exisit in them. I want to keep a functionality that If I do any changes in the Main help, the common topics between editions get that update automatically. Else I would be required to copy and paste the content between editions and it would be tiresome as there are 4 editions of my software. Please suggest what can be done to achieve this?
We have an ancient RoboHelp project created in RoboHelp X3 with more than 1500 pages, a large index files (hhk fiile has about 20000 lines) and conditional build tags. The project file has the format mpj. Is there any way to import this in the 2022 version or is there any recommentation how to transfer it manually including index, links, conditional build tags etc.?
Version: 2022.3.93 I am publishing multiple projects to a local network webserver (frameless output). Each project output is hosted in a separate folder on the server (Root/Project1, Root/Project2, Root/Project3, etc). Is it possible for there to be a different publish profile for each project? I was surprised when: 1) I used the publishing feature to update one project output and it dumped files from that output into the directory for another project (i.e, Publish Root/Project1 and output ends up in Root/Project1 and Root/Project2 ). 2) I edited the Publish Profile in one project, and the profile edit was applied to both Project 1 and Project 2. Bug, or am I simply not understanding how publish profiles work? Thanks,Geo.
I placed a page number field in the footer of my layout. But the pagenumber is 1 on every pdf page. I am getting frustrated about that. What is wrong?
Need help on how to modify the output presets Robohelp 2022
We plan to upgrade our legacy online user help from Robohelp 2015 to Robohelp 2019 and then upgrade to 2022. The help is context-sensitive within the application. The output is CHM, and we plan to have the same output form. So, what things must be considered while doing this upgrade to migrate the content successfully? There are approximately 20 Chapters and 1150 topics.
Hello,I am fairly new to RoboHelp. I am currently using 2020 version, a frameless skin. I added files to the TOC. In the Contents section, often my file names are changing with underscore in between the words and suffixed with .htm (file format) - Please refer the attached image. I don't want this change to happen as this reflects in the output generated with underscore and .htm. I have to manually rename them removing underscores and .htm. It's time consuming when I have too many files. How to fix this permanently? Please help. Thanks in advance for your responses.
I am working with RH 2020.6.76 on Windows 10, and keep the source files in SharePoint. I have recently started having trouble with the stability of the skin templates/editor, and with the generation of outputs. Example of the instability of the skin editor:- change the font color of an element such as Topic Page > Breadcrumb > Label - it changed at first, but after moving off and coming back to that element it was unchanged even though the color change still showed in the Font Color box. This is just one example, and happens frequently on most of the elements I have changed in the original Studio skin. Output generation issues:The frameless output generation is producing blank pages for both the index.htm and the First_Topic.htm files, which makes the help system inaccessible. I had everything working correctly, managed to publish a working output, and then checked the files in to SharePoint. When I next connected to the SharePoint files and re-generated the output
One of my colleagues is experiencing the strangest issue:When editing a topic in the RoboHelp UI (RH 2022.3.93), the <strong></strong> attribute does not seem to apply to words in UPPERCASE. I have attached a screenshot to illustrate the issue. The text in the red rectangles should appear in bold. Even text that should be boldened through the CSS is affected. In the attached screenshot, the line which starts with "Table A." is actually a H2 and has no inline formatting. This only occurs while editing topics, within the RoboHelp UI. If we preview the topic in Google Chrome, everything looks as expected. The generated output is also fine. Also, when bold is applied to lowercase text (or Sentence-case text) everything is fine. Stranger still, my colleague and I are both working on the same project, collaborating through GitHub integration. If I open the same topic on my computer, everything is fine on my side, even in the RoboHelp UI. The issue only occurs on my
Hi, I put a linked image with size 9000 x 9000 px in RoboHelp and scaled it in the properties to 1500 x 1500 px.After that the PDF creation failed. When scaling the source image to 2000 x 2000 px, the PDF succeeded. What is the maximim image size to be used in RH? I cannot find it anywhere. André
Robohelp 2015 has a CSH Test tool to test my topics for context sensitivity. Is there anything similar to this in Robohelp 2022 version, or is there any better way to test my topics for context sensitivity in Robohelp 2022? Thanks,Anand
I have one parent merge project and multiple child projects. I have inserted the child projects into the TOC of my parent project. I'm generating with a Frameless Responsive Skin, and that same skin is imported into all of my projects. When I generated at the end of October the help was working correctly. When I accessed the help recently, when I click on any link that accesses a page in the child project or if I use the TOC to select a child page, then the entire window is replaced with only the TOC of the child project. This was not occurring the last time I accessed the online help. I have entered a ticket with my company's help desk to see if they are aware of any changes to our browser settings. I downloaded merged output from Peter Grainge's website and the merged help works correctly in my browser. So, now I'm wondering what might be wrong with my style sheet or skin that is causing the entire window to suddenly be replaced by the
Hi Community,Context: I am generating two outputs from a single source. One is for light theme screenshots and another one is for dark theme screenshots. I've captured the screenshots and applied conditional tags to the images. Also, I've two output presets as well for dark and light themes. Challenge: I have also applied tile images to the TOC. Now, I have a separate dark theme and white theme tile icons, creating two identical TOC with different tile images will work for this, but if any change in TOC comes in the future, I need to track and do this for both the TOC separately. Is it possible to generate two different outputs with different tile image using a single TOC?
My manual has a lot of index entires. In my hosted manual (using a webserver), no index entries with the window_ prefix appear in the search. However if I open the same manual directly through its index HTML file, then the window_ prefix index entries appear. This ONLY happens with window_ entries and nothing else. When hosted: HTML opened directly:
This seems like an easy question. But I searched all over the place and could not find this simple answer. Thanks, Julianna
RH v 2022.3.93I have an existing RH Project that has been migrated from numerous different versions of RH over the years and I'm now facing yet another migration nightmare around using Book vs Online TOC.My desire is to have my RH Project produce a PDF that starts with a Cover page then has a Contact Us page then the TOC followed by the actual content. However I do not need or want the Contact Us page to appear in the TOC. For some reason no matter how hard or how many times I check the "Hide in output" checkbox for the Contact Us page it still appears in the TOC. Is that option more of an emotional support checkbox or something? I have even examined the xml of the TOC and saw processing-role="resource-only" for the specific page, but it still gets listed in the TOC. I even took a sample RH project (Two Cover Pages one) from a post by Peter Grainge, changed the TOC to Book, added the TOC to the Front Matter and it shows the CoverPage2 in the TOC. In the below example both CoverPage2 an
I'm trying the change the breadcrumb separator from a forward slash (/) to a greater than symbol (>) for my frameless template. RoboHelp appears to give you the ability to change the separator in the UI (when you open the template on the Topic Page tab, navigate to Breadcrumbs > breadcrumbs-separator > Layout > Content). I changed the this field from a forward slash to a greater than symbol, but the breadcrumb separator in my output is still a forward slash. I've tried creating multiple frameless output templates using the sample project and only customizing this single field, but I still can't get the separator to use the new value. I know I can customize the CSS, but I'm creating a template for multiple authors and want to make the process as simple as possble. Am I correct in thinking this field should update the breadcrumb separator? Does this field work correctly to control the breadcrumb separator for anyone else?
Hi All,PDF generation requires JAVA 8 to be installed on the PC. Now, that JAVA 8 is licensed, is there any alternative for this? In the Application preference, I can see that we can browse for the Java installation path.
When I am trying to generate, it gets stuck on the "Merging HTML files" status as shown below, it doesn't finish. Is there anything I am missing?
I am using RH2019. In the last week or so, my rhpj file went missing. I can no longer locate it locally. I have back up on the server of all the topic files and supporting content (css, png, docs, etc) I edit my help project at least weekly, and all was fine until just recently. No idea why it disappeared. Any idea what could cause it to go missing? Is there any easy way to rebuild the project without starting from scratch?
I'm trying to install the trial version of RoboHelp 2022.3.0, but the first dialog does not show all the contols. The dialog can also not be resized, so there is no way to install the product. I've tried it on two different machines with the screen resolution 1920x1080, but I'm not able to proceed. Has anybody run into the same issue? Is there any way to resize this dialog?
