Dear,I'm working with RoboHelp 8 and want to create a hyperlink to an external file. But when I am in the window Hyperlink and I select 'File...' in the box 'Link to', RoboHelp freezes and I have to close the program. In fact, with any function in RoboHelp that requires browsing in my explorer, the program crashes and I have to close it...Can anyone help me please?Thank you
Currently we have one project set up on Robohelp with 6,821 topics using word as the authoring tool.Another team will be starting a new project that will be using FrameMaker as its authoring tool.We are debating on whether to put these projects on separated servers or on the current servers as merged projects. We would like users for these different projects to not be able to see the other project. My questions are 1. Can you have separate authoring tools on one server for merged projects? 2. We know developers can write a script to control user access, how hard is it to write, where would it go? System Attributes: Robohelp HTML V9.0 RoboSource Control 3.1 RoboHelp Server V9.0 WebHelp Pro 9.0.1.262
My question is about creating a topic and saving it on the hard drive location, and later Importing that topic to a Shared drive where the remaining topics are located. When doing this can the Imported topic be updated in the shared drive? Does it then save the updates to the original location (hard drive)? Or is it best to create and save the topics in it's final location?
Hi all,Our projects are organized with a master project for the various clients, that includes a number of application projects such as Word 2010, Adobe Acrobat, etc. When a user runs a search in the published project, they sometimes have difficulty knowing which result belongs to which application, e.g. does "Headers and Footers" belong to Word or Excel? They are asking if the Search result can show the name of the application, i.e., the name of the project. Does anyone know a way to do this, other than renaming hundreds of files? We have RoboHelp 9 at the moment, and the client has RoboHelp 10.Thanks for any help...Marion
Robohelp 10 crashes (runtime error - Visual C++ - runtime library) when I select printed documentaion. Macros are enabled in Word. Anyone have similar problems?
I have RH 7 and need to print to PDF just for ease of reviewing. I have checked my settings to make sure they are set to print to PDF and not Word. Nevertheless, I get a message that an supported version of Word is not found. I have Office 2010 and I have read that it is not supported (no surprise) but why can't I print to PDF?Thanks for your help.
I have inserted a Print button into the Topic layout of my project. However when you use it (in the generated project) it is also printing the Search field, Home, Index buttons etc.Honestly, in the Android HTML5 layout this looks terrible .... is there any way to fix this so it prints JUST the content and not the other stuff?
Hi,I am running into several problems with illustrations when I import a FM book into RH. I cannot find the answers on the internet, so I hope somebody on this forum can help me out.I want to use RH to create apps from my FM books.1. In FM, I have placed several .eps files by reference. When I import my .book into RH, all illustrations are converted to .jpeg. Some of these files have now [1. in the file itself......Where does it come from? I don't want a number in the illustration!2. How do I adjust the frame size for illustrations so it will be kept after exporting to an app? It seems RH keeps the original anchored frame size from FM, which is too big for mobile devices.3. How can I make an illustration 'zoomable'? I know that by using Ctrl + K, you can put the settings for this, but when I open the app on a mobile device, there is a lot of unneeded white space around the illustration. Also, the size of the illustration does not adjust to the screensize.....Thanks in advance for any s
RH10 | WebHelpWe've recently implemented RoboSource Control with RH10 and have a multi-author environment. Does anyone know if it's possible to maintain a shared location of common resources, e.g. style sheet, etc? I've always used RoboHelp's Shared Locaton feature when I've worked independently, but now we're working as a team it's more difficult. We've tried creating a shared location on the network, but this impacted the performance of RoboHelp as we are remote workers. We've also tried pointing to a shared location locally on our laptops, but each time files are checked in it updates rhsharedresource.apj. For example, user A sets the shared location to C:\Users\joe.bloggs\Documents\My RoboHelp Projects\Shared Files\, but when user B "gets" the latest files from the server the links are broken because they're not Joe Bloggs! There may be a correct method or it simply may not be possible.I'd be grateful for any advise.ThanksJonathan
Our testers have just informed me that the navigation pane appears empty in my latest help project when viewed in IE 8, 9 and Firefox 17.This is the first time my help has been built into the product since I upgraded to RH10 so I've been assuming it has something to do with that but I can't find any info on this particular issue so I'm not so sure. Nothing else has changed since my last version other than simple content changes. My window settings are shown below.I'm hoping this is something really basic. Can anyone help?
I am having a problem with some missing images when I generate a Word document from RoboHelp HTML. I have seen similar problems in these forums and have tried the solutions without success. I have Word 2002 SP3. I have images in my document that have conditional tags applied to them. Up until now, I have not had any trouble with them generating in Word. I added some more images (using RH to import them into my doc) and I set up the conditional tags to print those and not the others. In some cases, the images are generated and in others they are not. There is no X in its place just a blank line. I have tried erasing the .CPD file and re-generating. I have tried removing and re-inserting the image. Also, if I generate the html web help, the images are all there. No problem. I have tried embedding the images and using links and get the same result. I have not tried to just generate the PDF because I need to tweak the document in Word first before generating the PDF to make everything look
I am using HTML5 output. The topics that are styled with Topic.slp look right. When I search on a term and a page is generated with SearchResults.slp, only my browser's default fonts are visible.I was having a terrible time with Topic.slp, default.css, and fonts earlier: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5786223#5786223Now the problem with SearchResults.slp has cropped up. What's going on?
I have recently discovered the Contents, Index, and Search tabs in the navigation pane in my WebHelp are empty in Internet Explorer 9 when Enhanced Security is enabled.Things I have tried:Enabled scripting in the IE options.Added the location of the files to the trusted sites list - Further investigation reveals that the HTML files have the mark of the web, so I had not done this step correctly. Once I added about:internet to the list of trusted sites, the WebHelp opens and operates correctly. I don't fully understand the security implications of adding this to the list of trusted sites, so if anybody can provide any detail here...The WebHelp opens in IE with any prompts about JavaScript not beeing enabled, but the nav panes are empty. The "landing page" is visible. When I disable Enhanced Security, the WebHelp operates correctly. The WebHelp is produced using RoboHelp 8 on Windows Server 2003 R2. It is a merged WebHelp (created using the very helpful instructions provided by Peter Grain

Hi,I'm using TCS 4 (Frame 11 and RoboHelp 10) to generate ePub titles (books to read on mobile devices, to differentiate from a FM book) to upload to reselling sites such as Amazon and iBooks. The title was generated as a FM 11 book with a TOC, then imported into RH 10 to create the ePub. But the imported FM TOC automatically displays after the manuscript content within the ePub, instead of in the front as it should.I've tried creating a hyperlinked Topic to use as a table of contents "page" as a fix within my RH project, but this didn't work correctly in the ePub.Is there a way to move the TOC to the front of the title? Many thanks in advance,Charlotte
I have RH 9. In my local webhelp, the Glossary Terms and Definitions display fine in expanding text. However in our client website where we display our webhelp, there is a huge white space between the term and the definition. I have opened it in different browsers, but it still results in the space.I have included two images. The first one shows how the glossary displays in the website with a huge white space (and no scroll bar for the glossary), and the second image shows how the glossary displays in the local webhelp in the correct format. Any suggestions on what is going wrong for the glossary on the website?
In RH5, when you viewed the topic list, the icon for any file that was in the TOC was colored blue. In RH7, they're not colored blue. Is there a way to enable this as an option? We really depend upon this feature and need it back!! Thanks.
I have a couple of fonts (corporate mandated) that are not installed on anyone else's workstation but mine. After the help files are generated (HTML5 Multiscreen, desktop) and rolled into the software build, I am the only one who can see the fonts properly. On everyone else's workstation, the fonts are not present.(One of the fonts is Arial Narrow, which I thought everyone had. Go figure.)How do I embed the fonts in the output such that they show up the same for everyone? (The corporate website using those fonts looks right on the workstations where my help files look wrong.)I'm almost embarrassed to ask because it sounds so elementary. Thanks!
I'm getting the "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in ...etc." in the compiled FlashHelp that I generated from RoboHelp HTML 10.I already had the "Convert RoboHelp-edited topics to html" option checked.I would appreciate any other ideas for things to check .... Thanks so much!
I have reported this as a bug, but wonder whether any of you have had similar experiences and, if so, how you resolved it.Have to close RoboHelp after generating SSLs in order to edit contentSteps to reproduce bug:Open project from Visual Studio Source Control (Team Foundation Server).Select a Single Source Layout and generate the output.Try to edit a topic. The Check Out dialog box says "To modify this document, the files in the list below need to be checked out from version control. Do you want to check out these files."Click Yes.Results:The Cannot Complete Operation dialog box appears. "The files in the list below could not be checked out from version control. Exclusive access to these files is required to modify this document."Click Close, close RoboHelp, and restart RoboHelp.Expected results:The files should be checked out from version control with exclusive access when I click Yes to check them out. When I look in Source Control Explorer, the file I tried to check out is not even
Is there any way to control where a topic appears in search results? I have a topic that provides users with a workflow and setup that I'd like them to be able to find easily. We've already placed it prominently in the TOC and link to it from a number of other topics. The problem is that when users use the search function, the topic does not appear at the top of the list because the terms they're searching for appear more frequently in a number of other topics. Is there any way to force a topic to appear higher in the search results? I don't want to go the route of adding the search terms to the topic multiple times and then hiding them somehow - too messy and potentially problematic.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
We recently upgraded from Robohelp HTML 5 to Robohelp HTML 10 and have discovered that our DHTML links no longer work. Does anybody know a quick way to resolve this issue.
Hi all, I'm remotely supporting some colleagues in another country who will be connecting to my RH project via our corporate LAN. The project is in RH8 HTML (webhelp) and using Robo SourceControl 3.1. They're running Win XP SP3 (I know, I know).I can get them connected to the project OK in RSC, but when opening the project in RH8 it's taking hours upon hours! The project local store is a local drive e.g. c:\RH8.They have admin permission on their PC.One thing we noticed is that the files from the C: drive folder are also somehow finding their way into the user profile desktop (desktop icons are disabled on the corporate setup). The profile is stored on the LAN and is filling her profile space up - but I suspect this is also the cause of the epic slowness.Any ideas on how I can stop RH mysteriously mirroring from C: to the user's profile?
Hello,After a few hours of head-scratching (something tells me this will be common as I work out the kinks while learning RH), I ran into what I think may be a problem or bug in RH.My FrameMaker book includes a cross-reference format called "Heading" & page , which is defined as follows: <cross-ref>“<$paratext>” on page <$paranum[h1]><$pagenum>My FrameMaker book is linked to my Robohelp project.I tried mapping the cross-reference format in Robohelp to strip out the page number, so File > Project Settings > Edit Conversion Settings for FrameMaker documents > Cross-Reference, and I set the Robohelp Style to <$paratext>.I did an Update, then Generate, and the page number would just not go away in the generated output!I updated my FM book, recreated my RH project, re-did the linking, rebooted, defragged...I did whatever I could, to no avail.I then changed the name of my cross-reference format in FrameMaker from "Heading" & page to Heading &
I have linked my FrameMaker 10 files to RoboHelp 10 (creating a single-sourced environment). When I publish the files using the WebHelp target, only one topic generates. However, if I switch to the Microsoft HTML Help target, all topics sucessfully generate. What can I do to generate all files using the WebHelp target?
