I'm using RH10 to update several WebHelp projects. In WebHelp Settings - Navigation - Toolbar Buttons for one project, I have TOC (default), Glossary, and Search. For a different project, I have TOC (default), Index, and Search. How do I add an Index selection to the project that only offers TOC, Glossary, and Search?
Hello RH for Word stalwarts! This is for RoboHelp 9 and 10, Generating WinHelp 2000, Word 2007The RH banner menu at the top of the screen has stopped working as of a couple of weeks backAny item selected from here does nothing, then when the cursor is put back on the Word, Word crashesThat means I have to insert graphics, mid-topics and other useful stuff manuallyThat's quite annoying so if there any ideas, I'd be happy to hear themThanks(I inadvertently posted this first in the general discussion group)
In my company, we work in RoboHelp HTML 10. We aquired a company that uses Flare for their online help project, and now it falls to me to convert it to RoboHelp. I searched online and found the converter on the Show Me The Demo site, but the download button doesn't do anything. Is that converter posted anywhere else? Or is there another method of converting from Flare to RoboHelp? Any help would be appreciated.
Since I installed IE 10, I've noticed that my RoboHelp projects do not display the topic unless the screen is resized. Does anybody know a solution to this? Thanks for any help...
Hi,I'm looking for some advice here. We have a number of projects we may need translated to another language. The person doing the translating has no experience editing html, so he needs to work in Word. I tried importing the .htm files to Word, but it doesn't accept them.Does anyone have suggestions as to the simplest way to export/import the files so he can edit them in Word? Generate a printed document? Copy/paste the text into the individual files?Does anyone have experience doing this? Thanks!
Why do i see extra spacing between words in a line when an icon is inserted. Can someone please help me fix this issue as this is affecting readability?
I would like to get our opinion on how I am working when replacing images. The help-project has not been updated since it first was generated but much has been done to the system. So there are a lot of images to replace but I have very limited time and the customer want as much as possible to be done. This means that I have to do some things in a way that might not be the best way but is the fastest. But I don’t want to work in a way that we later regret because it causes some problem that I haven’t realized yet. I don’t have much knowledge of the updates of the system or of the RoboHelp-project (what is described in the help, where in the help is it described).I capture the image with IrfanWiew.I delete the old image in the Design Editor. (I’m aware that the image is not removed from the project but I will deal with this later.)I paste the image in the Design Editor. (I find this the fastest way to get the new pictures where they should go.)When I have finished replacing images I crea
I can't edit any topic in any of my projects. I click them and nothing happens. It worked fine yesterday.RH 8.0.2.208
Hi,I'm using FrameMaker 11 and looking for a way to export my books in HTML (other formats could be considered) to create online help. But we want to link our software options and settings to this online content to offer fast-access contextual help to the users. To do this, we need the destination links (this could be headings or even paragraphs) to have either fixed numbers or text. Why fixed? because we update the documentation many times a year and we don't want to relink anything manually each time we re-export.Mif2go allows me to do this using FrameMaker's ObjectIDs. Problem is we use conditional text, and each time conditional text is hidden/displayed, the ObjectIDs for this text change (thefore screwing up the links). Theoretically, Mif2go allows me to use full text instead of numeric ID (using this html option: XrefType=Full), but I can't make it work. So, my question is: Can this be done using FrameMaker-Robohelp, the Technical Communication Suite or any other ways?Hope this is
The published output contains two paragraph spaces between each chapter. Kindly suggest me how avoid/remove the extra spaces between each topic/chapter or book.
I am doing testing in IE 11 and Windows 8. I have tested old projects and newly created projects. In IE 11, reguardless of the publishing options set, the contents and search pane are blank. I did try HTML 5 and that worked just fine.On my internet options, I de-selected the Enable Enhanced Protected Mode on the Security Tab. I also lowered the protection, updated Java to version 7 update 45, and enabled the Java Helper Add-ons that were originally disabled by the options set-up.I am on RoboHelp 10. Is there a fix for this or a way to upgrade the old projects so that we can use HTML 5, other than importing all of the topics into a new project?
In Robohelp 10 when trying to resize a table column by dragging its boundary, often Robohelp crashes. I never had this problem with Robohelp 6.
HiIn RH10, I'm using the WebHelp to CHM converter to create my CHM output. I use my own CSS file that controls the look of my WebHelp and CHM outputs. I set up my WebHelp options to include the Show/Hide link when a topic from the CHM is called as context-sensitive. Unfortunately with my CSS applied, the Show/Hide link seems to be obscured. I'd be happy to modify my CSS, but there is no way (that I know of) to move something via CSS that is controlled by JavaScript. (I can post-process the WebHelp HTML files to change the JavaScript, but that's just not possible with a CHM file.)Also, I tried generating the CHM using the HTML Help layout option, but the output ignores a number of entries in my CSS, which makes the display unacceptable. (I can't have separate CSSs for WebHelp and CHM.)
Today while accessing the help from my hard-drive, I noticed that when I clicked on a link to open a pop-up image it appeared as a thumbnail. The pop-up is supposed to appear as a full-sized image, and not a thumbnail. When generating the layout, in the multiscreen HTML5 properties, under screen profiles - desktop - optimization, I have Convert absolute image size to relative image size selected. When this option is cleared, the pop-up image opens normally. However, I would prefer to keep this option selected so that large images are converted to relative image size, and fit on the page. What is weird to me, is that when accessing the latest version of the help online through my company's system both pop-up images open normally, and absolute images are converted to relative size so possibly some other setting is causing my pop-up images to become thumbnails?Suggestions are welcome,Yehoshua
Upgraded from 7 in order to support WebHelp for Chrome, so am a bit off the pace, and was confused by the 'MultiScreen HTML5' option.
Hi, I am using RH 10.0.0.287. I generated the Webhelp output and using IE 8 on Windows 7.The webhelp displays the topics correctly but it is using the styles from the default.css.I want it to display the styles from the .css I have. The styles work for the iPad output and not the webhelp.I have applied the .css at the topic level and can see the .css file in the Project Manager under the Style Sheets folder.I have also selected the .css in the webhelp settings under Content Categories when generating the webhelp.I can see the css file in the output webhelp folder. I can see the css referenced in the output topic page. <link rel="StyleSheet" href="OLH1_05.css" type="text/css" />I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Please help!c uday
All,I've seen a couple of other posts about this topic, but answers do not really seem to solve the entire problem.I just updated my project from RH9 to RH10. Now EVERY numbered (and bulleted) list in the program has extra space between lines - only in design mode, not when previewed or published. I found a post that suggested editing the CSS directly which I did try - but it does not automatically update existing lists. If I create a new list now, all is right with the world - but my hundreds and hundreds of existing topics look like crap in design mode.Any ideas of what I can do? BTW - My RH 9 project with the unedited CSS still looks great. Thanks!Chris
I keep getting an error when I try to upload my pages to Sharepoint so other can review my work.
Greetings:TCS 4 Windows 7, 8 GB RAM, plenty of processing power. I recently upgraded from TCS 3 due to unresolvable Frame import crashes. I was able to import my Frame 10 files with RoboHelp 10, but just noticed that all of the graphics converted to white JPGs. These were mostly source Illustrator .ai files, with some .png. All converted to the equivalent filenames and were all in a dedicated subdirectory directly under the Frame files. The RoboHelp and Frame file directories are peers in the same folder so there should not be a link length problem.Any thoughts? I need to correct this issue by the end of the week. Thanks in advance to all you smart contributors.Karl
HiI have created a master page and inserted "Title" field in it. And I have created a topic with a title associating this master page. Because of the "Title" field inserted in the master page, the title given to the topic is reflected on the page. But issue is when I tried changing the title of the topic, the change is updated in the TOC but not on the page. The page is still retaining the previous title, which I have given at the time of creating topic. Even when I tried updating the title using "Update Field", it is not updating. If there is any other way to updating the fields, please do let me know. Thanks in advance.
We are working with some multi screen projects that takes a long time to publish. Its very time consuming. Is there any way that we can publish it to a local drive? Please help us out. Thanks and RegardsRabin
In Robohelp 10 Webhelp when I open the Styles pane the cursor jumps about between the style of the currently selected paragraph and Normal. It's almost impossible to select and double-click on a style to apply it.
Hi, I want to put some redirection code into my help stsytem, is it possable to conditionally build a <script type="text/javascript"> tag? Any help would be much appricieatedoooo and meta tags as well!
As I roll out the help to the users, I notice that many (mostly me, LOL) are frustrated by the primitive Search tab: no searching for phrases, no stemming or wild cards, no Boolean operators, and so on.So I did some research and discovered some ways I can improve it, but I can't get it to work. (I'm using RoboHelp 9.)Searching for PhrasesThis, I discovered, after searching Peter Grainge's excellent site, is easy: Just use quotes! Okay, I should have tried that before I went looking, but thankfully Pete not only included that tip but a tip (in 8 - Navigation Pane) on changing the search prompt so that you can tell users that that's how to search for phrases. He says (and the RH 9 help says something similar) to do this:To change the string from the default go toFile > Project Settings > General Tab > Advanced > LNG File Taband change FtsInputPrompt to your own string.I tried that, closed it, recompiled, and no, it didn't change from the default. I closed the project, restart
I have a help file that was working correctly in Chrome previous to the current release. With the new release, besides the refresh loop problem I've seen reported in this forum, we're having the following issues with the compiled webhelp:Drop-down text that we have not modified since the last release doesn't open with the new version of ChromeDrop-down text that we have modified since the last release doesn't appear as drop-down text. It appears as normal text without the drop-down style and actionRegarding the refresh loop issue:When we compile the file and try to view it locally, we see the refresh loop problem already reported, however, when we view the help file when it is called by our app, we don't see the refresh loop problem.Of course, we have a deadline this week so any help would be greatly appreciated.
