Hi, (sorry for the abundance of information!)I am using RoboHelp10We create Microsoft HTML Help (CHM files)7 CHMs are linked in a master.chm fileUp to some years ago, the help worked file. Then the technical writer responsible for the help left and some features were not passed over completely to a replacement. Meanwhile I have taken over the project from the replacement and come across the following issues:I can add new pages to the help, which can be searched for by opening the masterI cannot add or fix links to CSH topics as the software is not able to find the files (The CSH ID is added to the software and the .h file of the individual chm files)How to solve this?I do not know if and how the individual .h files are autmatically added to the folder of the master projectI do not know if and how the individual .ali files are automatically updated once a new topic and CSH ID is addedI do not know if and how the master.ali file automatically updated with newly created topics in the indi

Hi Does anyone know how you customize this toolbar in the studio skin:  I only want favorites and share. For share, I only want to be able to share in an email, not to linked in, twitter or facebook.  Also for Filter, does this only work if you have dynamic filters configured? So if we dont have any dynamic filters, I should hide this too?If I cannot hide individual buttons, can I remove the toolbar completely? If so, how do I do this?

Hello, I am having a problem with Robohelp 19 where it is hanging on the splash screen. it shows 'initializing' then nothing else happens. Robohelp doesn't open no matter how long I leave it.    I have been using it with no issues for about 3 months and this has just started about 10 days ago.   I have unistalled and reinstalled a number of times. I have run the creative cloud cleaner before a reinstall and nothing has helped.    Has anyone else encountered this problem before?

Hi, for the PDF output, I am trying to duplicate in Robohelp 2020 the method I used in Classic via Word output to create mulilevel list numbering on the TOC sections and the topic titles. In the Word output, Classic had a TOC and heading levels problem as outlined by Peter Grainge here. I circumvented it by using H1 as the topic titles, and using my own custom subheadings within the topic, named MyH2 and MyH3. That way, when the 1600-page Word doc was generated, the sections and topic titles used the H1, H2, H3, etc. down to H6, and my custom subheadings within the topics were unchanged. I then applied a massive VBA script in Word that automatically formatted everything, including assinging multilevel numbering to the headings. Worked fabulously for many years. I was excited to see Robohelp has a much improved PDF output. When you go to a direct page link on a doc created using the "Responsive" output, you are shown a full page document with a message at the top saying "Click here to see this page in full context". Personally, I have NO issue with this, but my employer hates it and wants links to open in full context with the ToC on the left as normal. So, is there any way to disable this behaviour and have links always open in full context eith the ToC? Even if it means manually editing source files? I've been looking around and only seem to find topics related to older versions, some of which reference an option to disable this, but that option no longer seems to exist. 😞 

I am noticing past few weeks the frameless output generated with rh 2020 update 6 is kind of slow when loading and navigating through, in general. The page load takes time for some reason. It was faster earlier. we don't have any heavy images that take a while to load. It works slow even on a local machine output before moving it to the help server.Anyone noticing this? Any idea how to resolve this issues? 

Hello, I am new to robohelp and seeking help to clarify the robohelp system requirements. It is not very clear in the robohelp documentation if Tomcat is a mandatory requirement for robohelp to function. Can I use robohelp server with only IIS without Tomcat?Thanks muchAlan 

What is the best way to Merge Projects using a Parent Project and Children Project file construct as noted in several guides. The only addition to the Parent Project we do is adding the Child Projects to the TOC linking the Child Project Input folder and selecting the rhpj file.Do I need to Link, Edit Settings, and include the Child Project in the Parent Content? If the only thing I have to do is add the Child Project rhpj to the TOC and change the source code, what html file(s) in the Child Projects Input or Output folder do I include?What steps am I missing in my Merge process?

RH9 | WebHelpDoes anyone know if it's possible to include more than one CSS file in a project? For ease of maintenance, I'd like to split my default.css into individual files, for example, a main.css (which has @imports and is referenced in my topics), a typography.css, a structure.css, a lightbox.css, etc, etc. I've had a play around with this and it appears to work, however, when I try to close my project RoboHelp gets upset and freezes.ThanksJonathan

Last week, we got reports from users that our webhelp pages are running very slowly or not running at all... Our internal IT team ran a performance monitor on IIS, and have ruled out the possibility of resource issues on the server... Our Director of Software Development ran some additional diagnostics and concluded that this new-found slowness is being caused by javascript: "Network call stack and timing slowness seems to be in javascript related to robohelp functionality".  Is anyone else experiencing this? The search functionality has always been slow for us, but slowness in loading various pages and topics is brand new.

I would like to design a back cover page with a different page margin than the content pages. I already succeeded creating a front cover page with custom margins by putting following code in the CSS:@4025150 :-ro-nth(1 of bodyPage){  margin-left: -0.53cm !important;  margin-right: 0cm !important;  margin-top: 0cm !important;  margin-bottom: 0cm !important;}How can I do this for the back cover page? It now has the page margins that are defined in the PDF output settings under Layout.

We recently upgraded from RH11 to RH20.  We use .chm files and the Context Sensitive Help was working in the application using RH11.  However, after the upgrade the Context Sensitive Help is not working in the application.  Pressing F1 in the application only brings up help on the initial display, but not on any of the other displays.  This was previously working using the old version of RH.  I looked at the Map ID report, Topic property info which showed the map name and ID, and looked at the upgraded map files (former .hm files) and did not see anything that looked incorrect.  Our RH project had probably 20 different .hm files and all appeared to be converted to the new file type.  Any suggestions on what could possibly be the issue?   We did upgrade a different project for a different application and the Context Sensitive Help works for that application.

Hi all!I am making use of Hyperlinks in my Project. I linked to an external webpage. This works fine.  I also tried to link to a Word document saved to my computer. This half works. I ran into two issues:1) The hyperlink does not open the actual source document. It opens a new version of the document that is saved into my downloads. Not the biggest issue, but why is this happening? My explanation is because not everyone might have access to the drive that my document is saved to. 2) This is a bigger issue. The hyperlink opens the Word document that was available at the time that I linked it. It does not reflect changes. If I update & save the Word document on my computer, RH still opens the 'old' version. Why is this happening?The source remains the same. There are no changes to the folder or the file name. I only changed some content in the Word document. To my understanding, the updated Word document should open. The only work-around that I could find is

i am hit with this error message after I have connected to my GitHub profile, and attempt to push my changes: I have generated a personal access token through the GitHub website, but I am unsure where to enter it as there is no pop-up window prompting me to.  I have read the article ( https://github.blog/2020-12-15-token-authentication-requirements-for-git-operations/ ) provided to me in the pop-up in the screenshot above, but still struggling to piece together how to get around this. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!

The restart numbering of an ordered list did not work. The Author view, Preview, HTML5 and PDF output show the intended number but the HTML Help and Word outputs don't. The numbering starts at 1 for these.I tested this with a new project (click New Project in the welcome dialog) to simulate.In the 'First topic', I added:1 First with ol style2 Second with ol styleIntermediate text20 Twentieth with ol style and restart numbering21 and so onThe HTML output shows line 20 with the correct number. Note that the code shows <li value="20">.I know that I have made some changes to the li style, so I assumed that these changes caused the problem, so I tried to figure out at what point the problem occurred. I edited the list style ol in default.css with the RH style editor.I checked Advanced formatting (nothing happens), and then changed Indent from 40px to 36px (by pressing the down caret). Things were fine, i.e., all fonts were the same on my mobile pages. Now, first page has our proprietary font, second page has a mixture, proprietary font (let's call it MyFont) in the h1, MyFont in p and no font selected in td so in td, I have Times New Roman as the font. I've gone to the deafult.css, checked that: MyFont, Arial, sans-serif; is in the body section, no other font used anywhere in the CSS. There is no stylesheet associated with the master page and I don't use a master page when generating.  I had noticed this last week and couldn't figure out how to update the style, there's some confusing thing about make your change then click on the update style icon but when I go to a different page, the change I had made to styles is not applied. When I click on Styles in the right hand side, I have no styles, None. I then went into each place where my font had to be applied and changed the Font Family for that section in Content Properties, clicking on Update Style after

In my RH2020 project I use conditional tags to control output for different audiences. In one case I have a sub-heading that needs to be different according to user. The conditional tags work fine in the body of the topic; however the Mini TOC is completely ignoring the tags and displays both headings as links. This was not a problem in our previous version of RoboHelp (RH9). The output from RH9 only shows the proper heading in the Mini TOC. I have tried removing all conditions and replacing but that didn't help. Have also tried putting the two headings on separate lines but that just displays the two links on separate lines in the Mini TOC. 

Every time I enter a snippet it has a top and bottom border. Is there any way to get rid of these?

I want to create a topic in my RH 2020 project for the front cover of my pdf output. I want the background of front cover to be all one colour. However, when I do this to my topic, there is a margin round the outside that is white, and the background colour does not cover the whole of an A4 page. How do I configure my topic to do this?

In the frameless output generated for a project, two of the topics are missing in the result. Both are in the TOC, and both briefly appear in the dialogue box as the output generates (e.g. "Patching issues in Missing_Topic_1", "Patching issues in Topic_Correctly_Generating"). This is using the most recently updated version of RoboHelp 2019. Error occurred after copying & pasting the .htm file generated in output to separate, local folder; have tried copy/pasting the topics back into the output, but they disappear again on generation. Fixes tried: removing the pages from the TOC and re-adding, recreating the TOC from scratch, generating to both a local file location and networked file location. Haven't tried recreating the topics from scratch, but would like to avoid that if possible. Any suggestions? Nothing I've found explains what might be happening, why, or how to fix this. 

I have an eval copy of RoboHelp on my personal laptop, and want to buy a subscription for a couple of months. When I installed someone from Adobe emailed me, but she never responded to my response asking about purchasing a license. Any suggestions who I should contact? Thanks!Cindy 

Hi, I have downloaded and installed the trial version of Adobe Robohelp 15. However, I am not so comfortable with the latest version and hence would like to go to the older versions. How can I download the older versions of Robohelp?

Hi,I'm frustrated over the fact that Robohelp keeps adding CSS classes to the html and styles in the CSS stylesheet when adding compontents like a bullet list and so on. Is it possible to disable this?Our company is trying out Robohelp and my part as a designer is to create a number of pre-defiened styles for our editors to use in order to maintain a solid design. So I don't want Robohelp auto-adding it's own styles as soon as an editor adds a bullet list or anything else for that matter. In the long run this will clutter up the available styles and the editors won't know what styles to use.
