Substance 3D Designer

Good Day! I am new to the world of 3D printing. While I don't yet know how to create my own 3D files, I'm looking for recommendations of which Adobe product would be good for a novice beginner?  I'm looking to design and print items for my own consumption and use.  Thank you.

Dear Community,I have been using Substance Designer for a few weeks now and the program is supposed to become an integral part of my workflow. However, I can't work with it for 5 minutes without the application crashing. There is also no system behind it, so it can happen that the program crashes at any kind of operation. Best crash so far yesterday, when there was a crash when clicking the cancel button of the crash report popup!!!Do you also experience this? Is the software an absolute disaster and you are only using it due to a lack of alternatives or could the problem be on my (system/hardware) side? Just in advance, I have all drivers of graphics card & Co up to date and use Windows 11 with an Geforce 4070. Thanks for any response, because I am honestly a bit desperate because I wonder how I should work with it and build a business workflow on it if it is such an absolutely disastrous experience to work with it...

I make a lot of custom SBSARs to use in Substance Designer and each time I add one I manually change the seed value to make it unique.I would love each one of my new custom nodes that I add to my graph to have a totally random seed. So far I tried generating a random number using the random function in a value processor but I came up against two problems:1. I can't figure out how to assign the random number to the node's random seed2. The random generator is pseudo random ad not truly random so it would be the same value each time. TLDR:Is there a way to make each new instance automatically use a new random seed number?   

I'm using Substance Designer 14.01.I get the following error when I have an MDL of v1.8 (or 1.9) in my MDL path:[ERR][1698][SDK/COMPILER/CORE] enterprisepbr.mdl(1,5): C222 Unsupported MDL version 1.8Is there a plan to support versions of MDL > 1.7 in the near future?

J'ai eu beau redémarrer l'application ouvrir les fichiers par différents intermédiaire, désinstaller et réinstaller substance designer rien n'y fait. In Substance Designer is it possible to create this type of parametric patterns for architecture that can be exported to CAD or Illustrator?

When i open an SBS file in substance designer, it always warns me that the sbs format has changed for a dependency. I go through the steps of clicking yes to all, it tells me it has completed the format change successfully, but doesn't give me an asterix on the file to suggest it needs saving. I try saving anyway, but then when i close the file an re-open it again it gives me the same format changed warning.This seems to be an endless loop. How can I get it to save the format changes it wants to?

Hi, is there any option within SD/Python to enable or trigger execution of plugins by parameter or other trigger? What I want to achieve: I have a plugin (currently using some application callbacks) that I would only like to use to some automation, not when using it the "normal way" (working on graphs). My current workaround is to use a lock file (could also use a system variable, I guess).  Would be nice to have a more decent control over the parameter i.e. auto-cleaning after SD quits insteads of bash-script to release the lock file (or system variable). Any ideas? Thanks!

And available to modification  without  messing with original one in the library ?    Is it possiblee somehow ?  Perhaps by editing sbs  file in text editor? Something like in Blender when you drop a node group from library  , make it local and opened for tweaks , and now it saves with current blend  file while the libary one stays intact?  

Hello 🙂I am trying to reload the asset library after updating it via version control. I had hoped there would be an API function for this, but I couldn't find anything. In fact, the only way I could get it to reload, was to restart the application. Is there anything I am missing, or is reloading the library during runtime just not supported?

Hi,I'm using Substance Designer along with other Adobe softwares. The license is paid by the company I work for. I'm also working on a side project as a freelance. Do I need 2 separate licenses for SD or can I use the same license for both, day job + freelance?Thanks a lot for your answers.

not one by one ? For example I have a cryptomatte.exr  with masks and using Blender compositing pane I exported those masks as tgas  in a folder "render 1"   .   Then I want to make  a copy of my graph  with same masks   but saved in " render2" folder.    How  can I switch it at once , not relocate one by one?     Is there a trick in dependency manager maybe?     I know I can just  switch render1 and render 2 folders by using alias "render" and switch it  to another folder .   But after a while  it turns in a total mess and  a week later I alredy couldn't figure out a thing:  which folder  is the right   for each graph  copy.        Perhaps once I switch the alias path and reloading  sbs  I could  somehow  make Designer  turn it into  regilar  no-alias path ju

I want to overlay the rustnode on top of the node with the blue material, without transforming the color information from the blue material in any way. How can this be achieved?

Some sbsars have this option in substance painter, and I want to emulate that.

Hello, I am in the process of making a ceramic material, and I do not see a roughness map input on the true/false input dialogue. Please advise on how to add a roughness map to my basic material? In addition, I want this material above to be able to adjust sizes for typical input of photos and I am not sure if I should use the Bitmap to material light or the basic material.  Please note there are a slew of inputs not available in the Bitmap to Material Light?  If this is a better way to go then I would also like to know how to add the input roughness, etc..., to the Bitmap to material light map? Plan is to make a template for different ceramic typ material sizes like 2x2, 4x4 8x8 4 x 16 etc..., and use photos for the patterns as the inputs with the ability to change the size of the tile to fit the photo.  I know I can do this in sampler and I prefer to use SD.  Basically, the size of the tile will be the size of the image of the ceramic tile, and
