Clicking on an element in Adobe Express opens and closes the left menu which shifts your work area.

Every time you interact with an element in Adobe Express the menu on the left side of the screen tries to open to the applicable editing tools. The issue with this is that as you're trying to grab different objects to arrange them on the page the menu is continuously trying to open and close which is also shifting the work area, making it very hard to move elements as needed. I'll attach a video to show what I mean.

I think opening and closing the menu should be a manual option. It should stay closed until you re-open it. This would make using the application way more friendly, and would reduce my frustration by a million percent.

Assuming you are have a large enough display, there is a workaround to keep the left panel always expanded, so it doesn't keep shifting. For this, select any tab (say Search) when there is no selection. From that point on, the left panel will stay open even as you select/deselect items, until you explicitly close it with the Close button or reload the page.

Hope this helps

I just realized it's specifically when you've selected an object and then click away, on the background or scratch area. That's when the menu closes, which shifts the work area.

Hi @Chelsea Schmidt

Thanks for taking the time to share your frustration with this and capturing and sharing the video. I saw a few others felt the same way. Please add your vote to this feature request letting our developers know this behavior makes using the app difficult for you https://adobe.ly/40TGtpr

Thanks,
Dave

I can't agree more that this should be a manual or auto option preference. Because of this specific issue, I've had to stop using Adobe Express several times and return to other platforms, such as Illustrator or InDesign.
