After Effects constantly crashing, running out of memory and freezing my pc

I've been using After Effects for years without any major issues, but the recent updates have only caused issues. I'm unable to preview a simple 2min timeline without After Effects sucking up all my memory, and prompting memory usage warnings. I have 32Gb of RAM installed, with a RTX 3060, which should be, and has been until recently, more than enough to smoothly run an AE project.

Please provide fixes for this, because I'm not the only one having these issues.

I have "Cache frames when idle" disabled, and every ten seconds I purge memory and disk cache. This is extremely annoying, and given the price of the product, completely unacceptable.

Is this happening on a specific project, or with specific plugins being used? There isn't likely a single cause of this problem, other than AE is much more strict now only using the memory allocated to it.

We have done some work for better memory usage in the current AE Beta builds. If you're able to install a beta build from Creative Cloud Desktop, you may find less memory warnings and things returning back to working for you.

I have no plugins installed, I just run vanilla AE. It happens on any project -a simple 1080p video with 2 layers that blend (straight forward opacity keys, 8 second video) also gives me an out of memory prompt. I'm out of ideas on how to solve this.

Any chance you can share the project with us to see if we can reproduce the issue?

Hi, this happens with any project, no matter how small. I just recreated the issue with stock footage, here is the link. The render stopped at 85%, and I got the out of memory prompt, asking for an additional 38gb of memory. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1H93oSdWvAM5jkpg9pC8WzGHRPKKxZE-O?usp=sharing

Thanks for the project. I downloaded and opened it and couldn't reproduce the issue on preview or export using AE 24.1:

The second render is mine vs. yours that came in the project.

I'm inclined to think this may be a GPU driver issue, so please do upgrade that if you haven't recently.

In terms of other next steps, can you collect a log file for me please?

1. Help -> Enable Logging

2. Restart AE

3. Reproduce the issue

4. Help -> Reveal Logging Files...

5. Find the "After Effects Log.txt" file and paste the contents of that back to this forum.

Thanks.

Thank you for the assistance, my GPU drivers are up to date, still no luck. I've added the log file to the GDrive folder, the text was too long to post here. Thanks
