After Effects warning: Invalid menu operation.

After Effects versions 25.0.1 and 24.6.3 both have the same issue. When I put Lumetri Color to video the following error appears:

After Effects warning: Invalid menu operation.

Then when trying to do anything another error comes:

After Effects error internal verification failure, sorry! {invalid index in indexed group}

The 2nd window needs to hit ok about 50 times for get it off. The Lumetri Color doesn't work.

I haven't had this error ever before. It appered yesterday. I managed to use Lumetri Color perfectly in start of November or at least in end of October.

I read that this have happened before in 2020, 2022 and 2023. The solution was new NVIDIA drivers. My GPU is GTX 1080 ti and the driver is v566.14 (Nov 12, 2024), which is newest. It might be the problem this time also. I had older drivers when Lumetri Color worked. I have also updated After Effects every time it is possible.

Anyone knows what to do? Or do I just need to stop working and wait for the new Nvidia drivers, which maybe would work?

I tried install earlier October Nvidia drivers, but the issue remains. Then I tried uninstall the new NVIDIA Software, installed older NVIDIA Experience and September drivers. The error keeps coming. I can't use Lumetri Color anymore on After Effects.

I've tried to reproduce it with 25.0.1 but so far no luck on that. Let's get a log file collected and see if that helps.

  1. Start AE
  2. Help Menu => Enable Logging
  3. Restart AE
  4. Reproduce the error dialogs
    5. Help Menu => Reveal Logging Files...
    6. Find the "After Effects Log.txt" file and copy/paste the content back to this forum thread.

An immediate thing we are seeing is the install of AE being on the B: drive. That's definitely not a normal place for our products to be installed. Is it possible to install AE in the default location as specified in the installer?

Yep, B:\ is my work drive and it is the fastest m.2 SSD I have. C:\ drive is almost full and it's 14 times slower than B:\ drive

Where is your user Documents folder? Is that on the C: drive? Wondering if the installation isn't completing properly due to running out of disk space, and as such, the LUT files are not available.

LATEST

Documents folder are on C:\ drive, which has about 90 GB space.

My Custom LUTs are on C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\LUTs and they are working in Premiere Pro.

In AE, Apply Color LUT works, but Lumetri Color doesn't.
