Minor Quirk: Missing Mask Feather Property in Essential Graphics Panel

Hi Adobe After Effects Team and Fellow Creators,

I hope this message finds you all well and creatively inspired! I'm writing to report a tiny (and somewhat amusing) quirk that I stumbled upon while working with the Essential Graphics panel.

So, here's the scoop: it seems like the "Mask Feather" property has gone a bit shy and doesn't want to join the party in the Essential Graphics panel directly. When I try to add it, it's as if I'm throwing a party and it just refuses to RSVP! 😄

The interesting part is that I found a detour to coax it in. By creating a Slider Control and linking it to the Mask Feather property with an expression, the property happily waltzes into the Essential Graphics panel, no questions asked. It's like it needs a little pep talk or a middleman to make an appearance!

Now, I realize this is a very minor quirk in the grand scheme of things—and there are certainly more pressing issues—but I thought it might be worth a quick mention. Maybe someone could give this little property a nudge so it can join the panel on its own terms in a future update?

Thanks a bunch for all the amazing work you do. After Effects is truly a blast, quirks and all!

Warm regards,

Brun-AI.0

Thanks for your suggestion @Bruno Quintin

I'm happy that you've found the workaround using the Expression Controls to access those parameters. That is definitely the way to go for now.

I've added your request to our backlog and will update the channel if anything changes.

Cheers and Happy Holidays!
