adding an effect such as glow or saber only adds black stroke

I have been using saber and effects for a while, but all of a sudden, when I add an effect I get a big black stroke on the layer?   I have tried it with stroke shapes I made in AE and imports from AI and its the same.  Also in both 18 and 19.      So lets say I just make a stroke circle with a blue stroke width 4.  I add Saber, I get a black box that I can adjust the stroke.  no effect.

Sounds like a blending mode adjustment might do the trick but unsure exactly what you are doing.

Thanks Kirkeric but nope,  blending mode didnt do anything, its a black stroke box when I apply saber.

Ok, sorry to hear.  And Saber is the VC plugin if I'm understanding correctly?  Has it worked successfully ever with this current version of AE?

And if it is the Saber by VC, I think the easiest answer might be to write Matt at VC support.  Always super quick and probably knows the answer.

yes, its the VC saber.  its weird, its been working fine until yesterday.    I am uninstalling it and then reinstalling.   thanks, Ill contact them if I still am having problems.
