adobe extendscript toolkit not working in AE CC

New Here ,

Hey,

I'd like to do some development for AE CC 2015 but the ExtendScript Toolkit doesn't seem to be loaded.

I go to File->Scripts->Open script editor and I get a prompt telling me to install the app from the adobe website. Even though I did that, and the app appears to be installed when looked through the Creative Cloud manager, AE keeps repeating that I have to install ESTK.

Is there an external way to open the script editor (outside of AE), or has anybody experienced the same problem?

Thanks!

ESTK is a standalone app that can be launched separately. On Mac it is in the Applications folder and is labeled as "Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CC", inside there you will find the app "ExtendScript Toolkit".

Had just run into the same issue.  The head scratcher is to note that it seems the built in menu item in After Effects seems to be of no use.

Install the Extend Script from your app installer.

Open it manually.  That is it.

The menu item in After Effects then will not pop up the error if you run it.. if.. you already have run it.

So let me get this straight:

There's an issue with a very central menu item within AE that has been known for at least a year, seems trivial to fix (at least to a layman), yet hasn't been fixed yet?

What is it exactly I'm getting when subscribing to CC again? What am I paying for? Either remove the menu item or fix the issue.

Anyway, so I can launch ExtendScript manually - but how do I then link it to AE so that I can run the script from within the editor?

I just checked this issue, and I can say that this menu works on the latest AE v 15.1

You can link the ESTK to the latest AE at the top using the drop-down menu.

Sweet!  Thanks for responding to my very grumpy message. I blame lack of coffee.
