Advanced Lightning Not Moving

I'm trying to use trhe advanced lightning effect, but when I drop it onto my solid it just sits still.  It doesn't move at all.  The obsolete lightning effect works, but advanced lightning doesn't.  Any ideas on what it might be?  I've tried making new Comps and restarting After Effects, but the problem persists.

Are you animating any of the parameters?

The obsolete one is an animated effect but the Advanced Lightning requires animation of their parameters to move.
