AE CC, entire project disappeared. won't save. all AE folders empty.

AE CC 15.0.1 (build 73), last night i clicked "save" as i always do & closed AE. this morning i opened AE & clicked "open recent", found the project i've been working on, clicked on it but a window pops up that says file can't be found. went to AE in applications, started up from there & same issue. been working on this for a week & the near completed 4 minute music video project disappeared from the 1TB fusion computer drive & 3TB SSD external drive, all AE folders are empty, autosave is empty, my other AE project on external drive is gone. 2nd project i've been working on opens but when i click save & go to saved folder it's not there nor is it in auto save or any folders internal or external. i'm running (3 year old) late 2012 mac mini 2.6 i7, 16GB 1600 Mhz DDR3 intel HD 4000 1536 MB. i've had no issues with digital performer 9 or AE CC till i installed high sierra. when my 2nd display stopped working the rotten apple support said to upgrade to high sierra. the left display still doesn't work, the rotten apple won't admit it's their bug, they shuffled me from support person to support person.

first off I see you're working in an older version of After Effects. This leads me to believe that you may also be working in an older version of premiere which has had issues with deleting project files in the past. Any chance you're also working on this music video in Pr 11.1?
