Having trouble with After Effects CC 2018 constantly crashing.
I usually don't have trouble with After Effects until I start putting more video files into the composition. Keylight 1.2 usually makes the problem worse. If I click the preview/play button, it crashes. If I try to render it crashes. Messing with the effects makes it crash. I thought it was the RAM, so I went up from 8GB to 16GB, but that didn't fix the solution.
Could it be my graphics card?
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570

Try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer's site.

Updated the driver from the manufacturer, and it's still crashing.

Hi Patrick, try this:
While After Effects is closed, clic to open it and inmediatly press Shft + Alt + Cmd en Mac o Shft + Alt + Ctrl en Windows at the same time. This action resets all preferences to default state, including Media & Disk Cache preference.
Regards!

Unfortunately that did not work either. It starts to render, then it stops, and the crash window pops up.

Edit menu / Purge / All Memory & Disk Cache...

Nope, still nothing. It seems to work find when I have only one or two video files in the composition. The current file I'm trying to render has 4 video files in the composition, all MVI (Quicktime) files from a Canon T2i DSLR.

If you make render in another project with another videos? it crashes? if not, the problem is the video.

It's happening to me too!
i7 7700, 32gb RAM, SSD HD, Geforce GTX 1070
I develop games in Unreal engine(famous to be very heavy processing needed) and it's more stable than AE CC 2018
My AE is crashing with a simple task of Chroma key
Imagine if I try to composite dozens of layers as I use to
