I got a problem with AE undo recently, for example if I moved an solid layer and hit undo, instead of moving the solid back to the initial position, it would seem like nothing happen at all or it start looping in some action that I never registered. like ticking some checkbox in the effect that was apply to the layer, hitting undo would just keep ticking , unticking the checkbox. It would take around 20 undo until I actually reach the undo that moved the solid back to the initial position. The 19 times before that it would just act weird and undoing random stuff that I never actually did.
It doesn't happen all the time but frequent enough to be annoying.
I tried to clear the cache and revert back to older AE version but sadly the problem still persist...
Any ideas? Any help is appreciated.
I have same issue like you!!!
I found when I open the plug-in which call "Motion Factory" , It would be affect the undo button.(the situation like you)
If you wanna solve this issue, you should delete the file that follow the path below to reset the "Preferences" setting of After Effects.
(C:)>user's name>AppData>Roaming>Adobe>After Effects
Next step, you should reboot After Effects.
Then when you set the "Window" of After Effects, Do Not open the "Motion Factory" Plug-in !!

Start by checking your system's drivers. If it takes thatr many undo steps there could be an issue with your input device being hyper-sensitive or a graphics-related setting being wrong. Also check your disk cache stuff and make sure AE isn't attempting to cahce the same frames over and over. There have been occasional issues with such stuff under some conditions, but if it spans across multiple AE versions and can be reproduced with a simple layer operation it very likely has nothing to do with the program itself.

Hi, Thankyou for your insight. Will check on my computer end.
But when you say to " check your disk cache stuff and make sure AE isn't attempting to cahce the same frames over and over"
How do I actually make sure that AE isn't doing that? Is there a particular way of setting disk cache to prevent this?
I just select the disk cache folder to the designated SSD, that's for both premiere and AE.
Many thank!
