Hello,
Has anyone experienced the following issue and found a solution for it?
Right after Update to El Capitan 10.11 the After Effects 2015 stopped ram previewing in real time.
No matter what i do it won’t work.
I have a latest MAC Pro 2.7 GHz 12-Core with 64GB ram.
The AE 2014 still works though.
Everybody who is having this issue please install the latest update: After Effects CC (November 2017) Bug-Fix Update Is Now Available that is supposed to finally close this thread for good! please report if this issue has been resolved. ![]()
if you can't see the update yet, wait a while until you see it. try relaunching Creative Cloud app by typing Ctrl+Alt+R. I see it.

this update is 14.0.1 and is a bug fix for many disturbing issues especially for Mac users. it does not fix all the bugs that are new

Open up the Render Que window and dock it beneath the timeline so that it's open constantly. This worked for me until the update...

Yes, that is what I was doing till now, and even that didn't work in most cases. That is not the solution.

no it's not. the fix was supposed so solve this aka the last version 14.0.1. if you are still having problem let's try to examine what exactly is the problem. just to make sure we are talking about real-time playback of cached frames, meaning the bar is green and you are trying to playback and... you get choppy playback also indicated by the red letters showing a slow frame rate in the info panel. is that the case?
also try to check one more thing - under preferences->display see if you can check off "hardware acceleration". this will prevent me in my system to get real-time playback the first few frames.

I signed out of creative cloud and restarted after effects and it looks like it's working good. We'll see, I will keep you updated. Thanks guys.
p.s. @Roei - Yes, problem is with real-time playback of cached frames, dropping frame rate very low. But, as I said, it seems fine for now when I signed out of creative cloud and signed in again and restarted AE.

What's troubling is, I contacted a few adobe techs about this problem on their website through chat. None of them said this was an issue that's been reported, lol. I assured them that thousands of people online, and through forums are having the same issue. None of them could troubleshoot this problem or even knew it was a problem. I had to search online and come here for answers.

it seems to me that tech support (customer care via chat or remote desktop) is more for trouble loading the software, not actually trouble using it. I think it's for problems like crash every time, freeze on launch and such. I have good experience with the agents on these matters. for bugs and issues with how the software works the forums are always the best place to check. here, in the cow, and also reddit are all good places with many users contributing their knowledge. I know that here and in the cow the Team visits from time to time and monitors the issues. god bless the forum ![]()

Oh, and there's a surprise. I finally gave in and updated AE and sure enough - on my very first new project I get a new weird ugly looking error message I've never seen before.
*sigh*
(for the record it's this...working on a 1080 comp with 32GB RAM)

I spoke too soon. I am now getting a constant warning that After Effects needs "2 frames or more" in order to preview. 4K footage down sampled to HD. Wasn't doing this before the most most recent update 14.0.1.5. My problems seemed to be fixed by the update prior to this one. Same Retina iMac, maxed out.

Open up the Render Que Window. Dock it beneath your timeline so it's always open and visible there. This will fix the problem. For some reason as long as the Render Que window is open, ram previews work fine...

Hey Adobe! Any update on this issue yet? This makes After Effects extremely hard to use in many cases. I'm trying to ram preview and scrub through some animation to work on finessing some tracking, but this issue makes doing this kind of work impossible. This is frustrating beyond belief considering how much we all pay for this software and how basic a function this is to the program. Is there any word on how soon this issue will be addressed?

this issue has been officially resolved in 14.0.1, but if you are still having problems please submit a detailed bug report so they can sort it out. Feature Request/Bug Report Form they check every one.

It is not fixed with Windows 10 at least. The fps ram preview playback is still inconsistant.
The very same project plays perflectly smooth on AE 2014 whereas on AE CC 2018 (15.0.0 build 180) there is always random fps drop down.
This bug is there since CC 2015 guys ! Come on !
