After Effects 23.4 Windows 11 Issue

Explorer ,
May 25, 2023 May 25, 2023

Hello!
I am having trouble using After Effects on Windows 11 since version 23.1 . The problem is not present in versions 23.0 and earlier.

The problem is a continuous unresponsive state by After Effects ( white screen and loading wheel ) whenever I open any item in the "File, Edit, Composition...." menu.

The problem occurs not immediately after opening After Effects but after a few minutes of use or after opening another window of any other application ( browser, explorer...)

a clarification: only After Effects is unresponsive, not the whole system. Opening the resource monitor, nothing seems to be at peak utilization when the problem occurs.

My configuration is as follows:

Adobe After Effects 23.4
Windows 11 Pro 22H2 ( Update KB5026372 )
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
64.0 GB DDR4 3200Mhz
Rtx 3090 - Driver 528.49
Storage 2xM2 + 4xSSD + 2xHD

Solutions tried without results:

Clean reinstallation Creative Cloud suite.
Update video drive.
Clean cache and delete Preference.
Disabled Hardware accelerator

Really hope that the problem can be solved.
Thanks for the help!

Thank you for your response.

It seems that the solution was to undock the Character Panel and restart After Effects.

Now it seems to be working.

Hopefully (:

Can you see if turning off your Character Panel helps with this menu issue? We've had a few reports of this being a "fix" while we figure out what's going on.

Hey, thanks for your answer.
I tried, but seems not working.
I don't know whether it depends on the fact that the font properties are now also in the new "Properties" panel

The bug we've seen reported seemed very specific to the Character Panel.

Next thing I'd do is try AE's new Safe Mode. Head to Preferences -> Startup & Repair -> Start in Safe Mode. This will restart AE and temporarily use default preferences. See if the application hang continues when in Safe mode.

Glad to hear that you were able to find the real cause. This is a known issue. The engineers are working on a fix. Sorry for the trouble.

Feel free to reach out if there are any other questions.

Thanks,

Nishu
