After Effects composition is darker than original raw video

Hi there,

For some reason whenever I open up After Effects and import my footage or replace a premiere pro project with an After Effects composition, it always comes out looking darker than the original video - for example, I have attatched an image from what it looks like on premier pro (lighter) compared to what it looks like in After Effects (Darker). If anyone can help me figure out why this happens in after effects, would be great help!

The cause would be a color space issue. Would you check the setting of File > Projects Settings > Color tab > Working Space option?
