This has not been fixed as I'm having the same issue and I am up to date.

I can't even get past the error message to change settings in my file. 😕

Your issue is different than the one that was fixed in the original thread. It's even a (slightly) different error message.

What, exact, version of After Effects are you using?

What is in your composition?

Can you open the project at all?
