After Effects keeps freezing when previewing compositions, especially with heavy effects. Tried clearing cache and adjusting RAM settings, but no luck. Anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions?

Hi Mark,
Thanks for writing in. Could you let us know your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version)? Do you see this behaviour with all the projects or with a particular project? What are the details of the media (frame rate, frame size, format/codec) and which effects are you using?
Looking forward to your response. Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.
Thanks,
Nishu

Would you check the option of "Enable Multi-Frame Rendering" in Edit menu > Preferences? Would you turn off the option and try it if you use many effects?

Same thing here. I have to keep closing AE, then re-open. I may get 5 minutes where RAM Preview works and then it freezes. I can scrub through the timeline holding down Ctrl key, but can't play back. I'm on a Dell Precision, 32gb RAM, NVIDIA RTX 2000.
The project is fairly lightweight - meaning no heavy effects or post project. I do have a 25fps video file within the composition. However, even turning off the visibility still presents the same issue.
I'm an experienced AE user so have tried the usual fixes, but in 20 years or so of using AE, I've never seen this. @nishu_kush, - any ideas?

Should add - this was working up until Wednesday on latest version of AE. Then just stopped.

Hi there,
A fix was rolled in the latest beta version of After Effects for a similar issue. Do you mind installing it and testing?
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
Nishu
