I tried copying and pasting it but they are linked.  Im not too experienced in AE and its kinda kicking my a**. I do have years of photoshop and other adobe experience but AE is a whole different beast. Thanks in advance everyone.

Because the "main_01" layers in your timeline are all 'instances' of the same thing - the main_01 comp. This is simply how AE works. If you want a new "main_01" you'll need to duplicate it in your project panel (and rename it for clarity) and drag that into your timeline. That will then be a new pre-comp - independent of main_01.

Yes - AE will kick your a** if you don't learn the fundamentals : )

So let's call your duplicate "main_02". Did you replace the second instance of 'main_01' layer in your timeline with this 'main_02'?

Yes I duplicated the original and then replaced it on the time line. They are still linked, when i change one they both do.

Thanks in advance,

Hansen

Hi. Sounds like you are not duplicating it in the Project Panel - that is the panel at the top left of your screen where you import footage etc.

Once it's duplicated (and renamed) there you then need to drag it down onto your timeline.

Hi guys. So you guys were right. The problem I had was that I need to duplicate the original call-out comp [no writing] then I could change the text/place multiple callouts. Thanks again!!!!
