This "most valuable participant" guy below could have answered the question but instead sends everone to a time wasting long read that doesn't seem to have the answer!

Here is the way:

-Make sure the 3D layer control box square is checked in the timeline control panel at the bottom left of the screen.

-A menu bar will appear below the clips with an option for camera views.

Select the 2 views option and move it back to 1 View.

That should do it!

Basics!

Seriously, read the help. Don't just rely on half-baked video tutorials that leave out critical information.

That's not that true.
I've been working with AE a long time. In former Versions the options where there by default.
So the questions more than understandable....

I have to agree, the option was there even when working in 2D and I also came here to find the answer as i almost never work 3D and i don't remember seeing it where it was for a while.

Cheers

@Mylenium has a terrible response and should be removed.

@juris98034096  below has the simple answer.  "Create a camera and the options will appear."  Thanks, @juris98034096

Basics? @Mylenium

The toggle used to be on the UI before, now its gone, that's why the question has been asked. If you don't know the answer or don't understand the question, better not try to mislead users into thinking it was their mistaked.

thank you! you're truly a wizard 🙂

*some of us are in time-sensitve work environments that community forums(or even videos) yield faster solutions than combing thru and doing a deep-dive into a help FAQ.  I'm certain all the valuable info is there, but just sorting and finding the page with the given info can be a time sink in itself...  Thanks again!

Thank you, I wasn't attempting to throw shade but it was 3 in the morning and my eyes were starting to spin trying to read through that user basics document to find the answer. Glad this was helpful, peace to all. Stay creative 🖖🏼.

Thank you so much, this was really a life saver for me! I knew it happened when I was working in 3D and then totally forgot how I toggled it on in the first place.

Thanks so much! This was driving me crazy for a weeks!

It used to be on by default in the previous versions - every update seems to have more bugs than the previous releases.

For future reference you can simply right click in an empty spot and get the menu below.

This will permanently remove the second view whereas if you delete the camera or 3D layer the second view will pop back up.

It worked for me as well. They must have changed something in the UI and now the views option it's not always on display and I couldn't find how to activate it. Thanks so so much

okay so... this worked for me
1. close the current project
2. open another project where you previously edited in 2D view
3. close it
4. then new one

I'm sorry this is a shorcut that helped me, this might work probably if you only had a previous one... or I can't be very sure of this either cuz, it occured to me only once and... this solution worked that one time

The siplest way to switch back from multiple viewports:

With the Comp panel active:

View > Switch View Layout > 1 View

You can do what someone else suggested and create a 3d layer and then the controsl for viewport pop up on the lower right of the comp panel but this way you don't have to go through that extra step.

It's dirsrespectful to assume that everyone here doesn't know the basics; Adobe updates all of their apps' UIs continously, and professionals can't find functions that have been moved. 1/2 baked Youtube FTW.
I may be wrong, but I didn't see this alternate fix for AE 2025 to see multiple views of the same comp: View >SwitchView Layout >1View, 2Views,4Views.

To look at two different comps at once, you still have to LOCK your primary view, and then click on the other comp you want to view. (it seems like you no longer DRAG the other comp you want to look at to a side panel, it just pops to a second view when you click on the other comp).
