Hi, I've been scouring the forums and I can't find the answer to this question for the life of me, so sorry if this has been answered & I didn't know how to word this correctly.
Here's the issue:
I try to import a regular MP4 file into AE, but only audio shows up. I clear my cache, restart the program, and it still imports with NO VIDEO.
So I read online that someone else had this issue, but re-rendering the MP4 as H264 in Media encoder would do the trick.
However, when I tried this, it renders as a black screen with just audio, NO VIDEO.
The original MP4 plays perfectly fine in Windows media player, showing video with no problem.
So my real question is why is this video not being recognized by AE or AME?
Both my AE & AME are up to date
Thank you for any help

Hello,
You check your codec you have set in your MP4 if you use After Effects for Mac. You can see the property if you play it by QuickTime player.

This is for sure a codec problem.
I recommend MediaInfo (MediaInfo) to have a detailed look into the file and what codec is used.
Report back, so we can help.
Cheers,
Martin
