After Effects Suddenly Doesn't Read MKV Files / Can't Save My Project File

Hi, up until recently my AE file was able to read MKV files outputted from Blender. Suddenly this morning I go to open the project file and I'm getting the 86 : 1 error saying that the files are unsupported / damaged. The files open fine on my comptuer, so this is an AE problem. Also, the project file now won't save.

I reinstalled AE CC 2019 16.1.2 and it did nothing. The Auto-Saves have the same issue, in fact any AE project file that read MKV files in the past suddenly have all sorts of errors. I'm kind of stuck here, I really don't want to have to recreate the project file.

Unfortunately, Ae no longer supports this video format.

Supported file formats in After Effects

If they are few, you could transcode them with HandBrake and then replace them.

Did this change in supported formats happen last night? Because up until literally yesterday, I was able to import MKV files, and I'm struggling to understand what I did differently that would make it unsupported all of a sudden. I didn't update After Effects, so I don't know how this change just happened.

Maybe when you reinstalled you did an update of the version you had. It's what I can think of.
