After Effects uses more than dedicated ram, then continues to crash

Hi there,

Unfortuantely my After Effect and Premiere Pro are crashing.

I am working on a Team Project with about 60 GB in files. Project Video length is only 1:30 min long.

I have one clip where we used a green screen tracker on a TV to replace the TV screen later with a Animation video in After Effects. Editing the Video in Premiere worked fine but as soon as i stareted to work on the animation the problems occured. I used the function "replace with After Effects komposition" and After Effects starts up. Immediately my Ram usage spikes up to 42 GB and then i get multiple errors from After Effects and Premiere Pro. something like " (12000KB) Memory requested. Not available" and "Unknown Bib Error". It continues reaccuring when i click "OK" until my Graphics Driver crashes.

In my memory settings I started with 50GB for Adobe and 10 GB for the system and worked my self down to 16 GB for Adobe and 48 GB for the system. Still after changing the settings Permiere alone uses 20GB Ram after klicking "replace with AE Komp." and AE then goes to about 15-20Gb and does the same as before.

How can I fix this?

My System

Windows 10 Pro Version 21H2 Build 19044.2006

Intel I9 9900KS 5Ghz overclocked

MSI MEG Z390 Godlike

G.Skill Trident Z Royal 2666Mhz 64GB (4x 16)

Nvidia rtx 2080 TI

2x M.2 SSD both 1 TB bithe PCIe

for some additional footage WD My Book 14TB HDD

If I can generate a log or provide a certain screenshot let me know!

Been having issues myself with the memory maxing out over very little use. I've updated all graphic drivers and am using the newest version of AE that is supposed to have these memory issues fixed. I can use AE for about 15 mins on full before it starts to delete my ram preview and only allows me to render 5 frames at a time; Ae gives a warning that im out of ram when im clearly not. Ive tried to clean my disk cache and memory to no avail, and ive shutdown and turned my computer back on and that fixes it temporarily. Ive seen other forum posts talking about it being a cause of the red giant plugins but i have the newest version and it still doesnt help either. Ive tried reverting down to Ae 2021 and i still have the issue. Now on Ae 2020 it works amazing and I have no issues so im going to be using that temporarily until more updates come out and its hopefully fixed. Just a shame I have to do that and miss out on all the features im paying for...

Hi F2ngz,

thank you for your recommendation. I'll try to do it with the AE 2020 Version and will update this post if that helped.

Hi again,

unfortunately the earliest version I can go to is 22.0 which doesnt fix the Problem. Any other ideas?

maybe good to know: What I tried already:

Update System Drivers, update Hardware Drivers, update Windows, run Adobe Apps in compatability mode, deactevate CUDA acceleration, go through every setting in Pr and Ae that is memory related, Flash BIOS to newest version, reinstall Pr and Ae, boot Windows in secure mode.

Also good to know: I dont have any PlugIns installed. Both Ae and Pr are clean installations.

yeah, I had a lot of issues too- luckily I have CS6 loaded, myself, but adobe has gotten real "rear-ended" about people using previous versions lately. They tried discouraging it many times, even threatening to pass on their own legal repercussions  from committing fraud, to their individual users who maintained use of perpetual licenses. (they eventually revoked the licenses, not honoring legally binding business agreements for the second time in 4 years.)

so basically, they're telling us "screw you, you don't own it, you don't get to see the last version, this version is best, for absolutely sure, and if you work on a large production that needs long term support, we don't want your business."
I can confirm that CS6 is 22% faster than AE 2022 (the version I continue using, and happily so, after the latest updates broke everything, down to UI handling, GPU usage, and video input.)
