Is it possible to set up a nested comp to always animate in from off-screen in a straight line, regardless of how wide the nested comp is, how far away the edge of the screen is, and where you want the final position to be? So the same nested comp can be used on a wide composition and a narrow composition, be moved around, and have the transformation automatically adjust so that it aways starts off screen and comes in along the X axis?

I'm still pretty new to this stuff so nothing is obvious. 😉 That said, it sounds like the way I currently have it set up in the separate horizontal and vertical precomps is the best/only way for it to work. Never mind, I'll keep doing what I'm doing. 🙂

You would simply apply a set of expressions to the pre-comped layer in the parent comp. The content of the pre-comp itself cannot adapt in such a manner for obvious reasons.
