Hi everyone,
I came across this super cool video and curious if you have an idea how these animations are done?

The first video.
Thanks a lot!

There is nothing in that video that cannot be recreated inside After Effects without using any 3rd party tools or scripts. It would require a very strong set of animation and design skills and many of the shots would require converting text to shape layers and animating paths.
There are a bunch of 3rd party tools, many of them at AE Scripts, that would speed up the process and make it a lot easier for someone without a very professional level of artistic and animation skills to reproduce similar animations.
If you have a specific shot you want to reproduce let us know. Maybe we can give you a workflow that will make it easier to do. One more suggestion: If I had done that project every one of the words that were animated would be a separate composition. Trying to do everything in a single comp would be nuts...

Hi Rick,
Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. I want to do the one at 0.59'. Do you have an idea how I can do that without the AE script?
Many thanks,

That, specifically, is best accomplished by:
1. Make text layer containing the Y
2. Right click Create>Create Shapes from Text
3. Twirl down Contents>Y>Y>Path and click the stopwatch to add a keyframe
4. Move to a new time on the timeline select the bottom 2 points and move them where you want.
5. Move to a another new time on the timeline select the bottom 2 points again and move them where you want.
6. Playback
This is a good place to read up on vector layers: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/overview-shape-layers-paths-vector.html
