Hi,
Can i apply custom animation presets via scripting using ffx-files from my server?
For example,
var mypreset = File("https://mysite.com/mypreset.ffx"); //using link to my network file
var layer = app.project.activeItem.selectedLayers[0];
layer.applyPreset(mypreset);
Thanks

Hello,
I am not sure about the link of https is supported or not in the animation presets. I would recommend you write the description of the local path, using the cloud storage like dropbox, google drive, etc. The description starts wtih C:Â¥. You copy your *.ffx into the cloud storage.

All of my custom animation presets are on Dropbox. All 285 of them. Then I made an alias in the default Custom Presets folder that points to the Dropbox folder. On a Mac is it Documents>Adobe>After Effects CC(current version)>User Presets>Custom Presets alias pointing to Dropbox. I've done this for every computer I work on. All 4 of them, and for every version of AE on every machine. All of the custom presets show up in the Effects and Presets Panel in AE and I can search for them. That's a lot better idea than trying to use a custom server unless you can create an alias that looks at the folder and gives AE access to the documents in the same way. FFX files are small, you can not build previews for them like you used to be able to do so browsing them in Bridge is kind of pointless. I would suggest you try Dropbox unless your network connection will allow you direct access to files without downloading them.
