Applying Time Warp Changes My position

Basically when I apply "time warp" it completely changes the section of the clip I want to add it to and there's no way for me to find it.  So here is what I am doing and then I'll get to the outcome of it.

1. I select the clip I want to apply the effect to in premiere and "replace with after effects composition."

2. I go to after effects, right click on the sequence to adjust comp settings to make the clip longer.

3. I right click on the clip and add the time warp effect.

4. Then it cuts the clip and only plays a tiny portion of it

5. So then I adjust the speed from 50 back to 100 and voila, there is the full clip, but now it's at regular speed, yet again.

So how can I get it to 10% but have it apply to the full clip?

What is going on, what steps am I missing?

We really need to see screenshots with the modified properties of the layers revealed (uu + PrintScreen + Paste or drag to the forum). Are you selecting multiple clips in the Premiere Sequence? I would just select a single clip. It will make life easier. Did you create sub-clips in your PPro timeline? Can you change the in and out point of the layer in AE after you have modified the comp settings?

Actually, if all you want to do is change the speed of the clip in AE you would not change anything in the Comp Settings. Changing comp settings and/or shifting layer in and out points will foul up the edit you did in Premiere Pro.

What screensots would you like to see. I'm so new to After Effects that it would be about 10 screenshots at least to explain my full process. A screenshot also won't show that after I apply time warp it won't play my full video.  I didn't add any layers so it's just the one composition.

I did just select one clip.  Not the whole sequence.

I'm not sure what sub-clips are...

I can't change the in and out point.  It basically shortens my clip to a tiny portion of what I brought over into After Effects.

Here are the screenshots of my flow...

1. For the first two screenshots I load the project over into my sequence.

2. Then I right click to replace with after effects.

3. Then I save it.

4. The next screenshot shows the composition that was built.

5. Then I right click on the project and select effects>time>timewarp

6. As soon as that happens and time warp sets it to 50%, notice how the biker dissappears and it now plays a tiny section of that original clip.  If I change it back to 100% then I see it.

7. So I'll add 10 seconds to the clip in comp settings and still nothing happens.

Every one of those screenshots is cropped. I still can't see the modified properties of the layer that is giving you problems. Select the MP4 file and press uu, then Shift + Ctrl/Cmnd + 3 to take a full screenshot and just drag it to the forum and it should show up in your post.

I also don't know anything about what is going on in the Premiere Pro sequence. I see one shot all by its self.

This is not normal behavior. The normal workflow would be to select a clip in Premiere Pro, select Replace with After Effects Composition, wait for AE to open, give the AEP a name, wait for the footage and the comp to open (the comp should open automatically), then start working on the comp.

When doing time changes the change starts from the head of the clip. Timewarp and Time Remapping are the same. The first frame of the source footage, not the in point of the layer is the start time. If you are going to use TimeWarp then the next step would be to pre-compose the MP4 file you are using moving all attributes, then apply Timewarp to the nested comp (pre-comp). If you are slowing down the footage then you don't have to do anything to the nested comp. If you are speeding up the footage you will have to extend the duration of the nested comp using comp settings, and also make sure that outpoint has been extended. I hope this helps.
