Hey! I am blessed with the task of reformatting pre existing Motion GFX clips (10s and 15s) to various aspect ratios. I'm about to render approved comps and there is a line in the spec page that reads "Content must be at 30 FPS, and bitrate between 60-120 Mbps." I thought it was a mistake, but then again never had to render out such large AR's before, so when I went to customize, I saw AE only goes up to a target bitrate of 50 Mbps...Am I reading this wrong? Or am I reading into it too much? some source refs that were sent to me are like 6 mbps, so I'm just confused. Thanks!

What format? How are you rendering? What are the specific rendering standards?

Oh sorry, wrote in a rush..h264 (mp4) is one, and mov (pro res HQ). Rendering from AE using h264 match source preset as the base, then just customizing the bit rate...May just go pro res for all anyway. 30 fps...anything over 2K aspect ratio, they ask for only pro res. Thanks for your reply.

The Media Encoder and the Render Queue both have a maximum bit rate of 240 Mbps if you start with an HD comp and use the High Quality - Match Bit Rate settings. This conforms to the H.264 `level 6 standard. If you can't get the Media Encoder to go above 50, switch from a YouTube or Vimeo preset to the Match Source High Quality preset and modify from there. You should also be able to switch to Match Source in the Encoder settings and then increase the bit rate.

hey! Oooohhh!!! I found what you meant finally under the High Quality 2160p 4K preset and just used that as a base and boom! Thanks Rick! REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!

It's odd though, I cranked it to 120, but QT is still reading the render as 11.9 mbps..these particular aspect ratios I tested them with are just 1440 x540 and 720x540. But why wouldn't it show that I reached the target I chose for them?

h.264 files are always compressed. The size and the data rate depend on what is going on in the frame. The same thing goes for a lot of compressed formats. I often post animated gifs of screen captures showing solutions to problems on the forum. The size of the file depends on how much is going on in the frame. They are usually 8 fps and around 10 seconds. File sizes run from just over 1 MB to close to 10, depending on what is going on in the frame. Variable bit rate H.264 files can also be significantly smaller than Constant bit rate files. A video with a solid color background and little movement is going to be a lot smaller than a video with lots of movement. lots of detail,l and lots of colors.

Ok got it..yeah was gonna add that these are relatively static..I mean there are light animations/slight movement, but nothing live action...strictly keyart with banners. Makes sense. I mean it looks fine, I'm only concerned about these bouncing back. Thanks again Rick, you're awesome!
