Can not Import PNG Files into After Effects 2018

After updating to 2018 on the mac. I can no longer import png files into my projects. PNG files are greyed out, but JPGs and PSDs still seem to import.

Is there a solution here?

Anything odd about this .PNG file? Does it carry transparency, etc.?

Does this happen with any PNG? Can you upload one of those so we csn try it here?

nothing odd about them. Yes they carry transparency and they've worked on all previous versions of AE. I had to uninstall this version and go back to the previous one. It's understandable that there will be bugs with new versions of any software but this seems pretty big.

Can you convert them into the PSD format in Ps then import them into Ae so you don't miss deadlines? 

I was raised on Macs but find I can build a more capable and less troubled system in Windows.
