Can we import more than one art boards of illustrator to After effects for animation?

Hello, 
I want to know is there any way to add an illustrator file with many artboards, "Each artboard has a different design", and I can switch artboards in After effects. so rather than importing and animating 6  illustrator files I want to do that with one. 
if no, is there a better way to do so?

This has never been possible and I doubt anything has changed recently, relatedly, that I missed.
You'll have to do some 'cleaning' up in AI.
