Cannot open continuously rasterized layers after effects

I edited a lower third template and saved it. Then after some minutes, I opened it again to make some edits (to matte layers and other layers) but it won't open.

I do not understand what you did or did not do, I think you should give us more detailed information as well as a few screenshots to see the entire Afte Effetcs interface or the options that you activate or deactivate.

you will get this message when trying to open a continuously rasterized layer like a Solid/Shape/Text or illustrator layer (eps/pdf/ai). you cannot open these type of layers in the layer window. as Byron said: give more information about what you are trying to achieve and show some screenshots.
