Read all about it here:

Cycore Effects - Plug-ins - After Effects

...where you can download a pdf manual. These "CC" effects do not have help in the AE online help system.

Here's the direct link to the pdf:

Thanks for the information. I understand how Particle World works.

I use it

I do not understand why you need a grid. What is its functionality.

OK. Two reasons - both related:

1. It will  help you orient the particle system visually within the simulated 3d world - let's say you were compositing the particle system over some real world footage. It would be helpful to understand 'which way is up' and how the particle system is oriented in 3D space. You can adjust the orientation of your view by dragging the axis box in the top left corner.

2. In the Physics section you'll find the 'floor' property. There are various 'floor actions' you can set - bounce, ice, glue. By default the grid represents  the position of the floor - for the same reasons as above - to help you integrate the particle system with other elements in your comp.

Is the grid needed for orientation in space like in 3d max?

I understood correctly?

Yes. If you ignore the floor functions, It is simply a visual helper for orientation.

Thank. The grid is just a grid. Good. The question is closed. Goodbye.
